My friend bought me a drink in exchange for two stories; Prompt: “Make me sad. Do your best interpretation.”

Breathe in.
Breathe out.
The ache would be gone soon.
It’s only a few more minutes.
He needed to look away from the screen now..
Needed this to end now.
The beauty to know the world inside and out will die with him.
No one should live like this.
Now, no one ever will.
Avery didn’t deserve what The King wanted for him.
This was the correct choice.
The only choice, really.
In all possibilities, he’d do this again. And again. Over and over. Without hesitation.
He’d picked Avery to save instead of himself.
He was always gone. Maybe fated.
There couldn’t be any choice to save himself.
His foolishness always costed him.
His humanity was lost in all possibilities.
Yet, he never felt anger towards that.
He felt relieved.
Relieved that he was able to do something.
Something for millions.
Even if no one knows, it was worth it.
Avery knew. And even if that was his selfish desire, he wanted that to always be the case.
That he’d never forgotten him.
Never forget the time they had together, even if so briefly.
He sure wouldn’t.
His last moments right now were clouded by him, after all.
Avery gave him the chance to see the universe in its fullest.
The beauty of the world.
His world.
It was funny that he could picture that green skin.
It didn’t do him justice at all.
..
It’s hurts.
In a way, he knew he’d die.
He wouldn’t be able to live a normal life anyways.
His head ached when the monitor wasn’t in view even for a brief second.
Blinking ached enough.
Then there was the issue with hunger.
The fridge was empty.
His desk was cluttered with empty cans.
So he made peace with it.
Made peace for being alone.
This wasn’t an outcome he thought would happen.. But he was grateful.
Grateful he had someone to be with him.
Grateful it was Avery.
Grateful to be with purpose.
Another deep breath.
“I’m sorry, Avery.”
.
“Thank you for playing with me.”
“For remembering me.”
—
A firework sounded, exploding into the sky loud enough to dull the noise of his body crashing down.
“WAIT!”
His screen filled with blackness, seeing only the glimmer of golden skin that became smaller and smaller until —.
[ YOU DIED!]
“No! Nononono!”
He moved his mouse to respawn-
To try and go back.
To save him.
The man who gave his life for his own.
He had to—.
His hand trembled badly, the mouse wasn’t registering his movements.
“Please! I need to.. To save him!”
A sob broke out.
“I barely met him today! I can’t just lose him like this..”
He saved him.
Even if he couldn’t fully comprehend it, he knew it in his heart.
D3r- No. Derek. Derek saved him.
“You didn’t have to do this for me.”
“We could’ve.. Found a different way..”
“A way so you didn’t..”
His head fell forwards.
“I’m sorry.
I promise.
I promise you.
I’ll never..
Forget you..
I won’t. .”
His head buried into his palms, tears flowing freely.
“Thank you..”
He had to save the recording, like he promised.
“I’ll make sure to—.”
A firework.
It made him jolt up to look at the sky.
Right..
“It’s midnight..”
It’s midnight and he was playing Minecraft.
On New Year’s Eve.
This is sad..
He spent New Year’s alone on Minecraft.
.
.
“Why..”
“Why was I crying again?”
—
See.. The eye ended with D3rlord3… <3
