I got the Starchild Tarot. So excited to start reading with this beautiful deck.
Belated Beltane tarot spread. My last day in Socialist Seattle. I can now rest easy in freedom loving Idaho. Oregon extended the stay at home order until JULY! Lordt! I’m all for safety but that’s insanity...
I received my first tarot deck and I am Vibing 💖 This is the Starchild Tarot deck Akashic version from Starseed Designs, created by Danielle Noel 🔮
Happy Sunday! It's been a while since I've participated in @bibliophilicwitch 's Tomes and Tea. Today I am reading The Book of Tarot. I have been studying the majors all week using various books and websites, and today we are diving in to the minors! I am drinking a chai tea 💜 Since I am pretty sick today, I will be reading on the couch all day!
Adjusting to a new workplace at this time of the (academic) year has been a daunting task. I feel drained and my throat hurts. But when I go back home, there's so much to be thankful for that I forget about the huge workload. Decks are one of these things that bring me peace, not only in the mental or spiritual realm, but also in a more materialistic view, as they are physical objects of beauty I can touch, grip, look at and even smell (new deck scent anyone?).
Today, it is the turn for the Moonchild Tarot to shine. I have been eager to share with you this new beauty by Danielle Noel, especially after having reviewed the Starchild Tarot. This 81 card deck, in Danielle's words, is designed "to help you shine, play, or dive deep within the waters of your heart". While the Starchild Tarot helps me linger in the liminality of some moments, I find that the Moonchild Tarot brings me closer to a more latent energy, to things that I need to discover or remember about myself, but which are not new - like the ancient ruins of my own self!
I mean, it is very poetic, but it is what it is. I have been more in touch with my own objectives, my ever-transforming sense of belonging, and my memories of those who are no longer with me. Back to the number of cards, this deck includes three extra major arcana (Shadow Work, Divine Wisdom and Moonchild). Thanks to them, it is possible to witness a dreamy combination of sacred places (from different cultures and ages), many moons, enigmatic characters, plants, animals, geometry and beams of light (among others). I would like to highlight the presence of earth and stone elements, as I think these are (for me at least) the key to understand why this deck feels so grounding, so stable, and why it radiates an energy that I would describe as foundational - that is, the strong, underlying basis to build up something much bigger.
And to help us in this building quest, one cannot forget the wonderful book, which includes a plentiful of information. From the very beginning, a thorough introduction to not only the deck but other necessary aspects like the history of tarot greets us as a precursor of everything else to come, including rituals and spreads. For each card, we find extensive information: a brief description, keywords, inquiries, astrological + gemstone correspondences, and the upright and reversed messages. For the minors, a further aspect is included: affirmations! It was such a surprise for me, as minors tend to be given less pages in most books I have read. And let's not forget just how beautifully designed it is, just like the sturdy box in which deck and book come! I love the foiled details, which can also be found in the back of the cards.
The Moonchild Tarot is simply brilliant. It is overflowing with beauty, knowledge and inspiration. But for me, the most amazing feature is the support it offers. Even at the risk of sounding repetitive, I consider it important to mention again that comforting foundation-like energy that this deck shares with the world. Danielle Noel has created a tool that brings us inward and helps us connect better with ourselves, all while being a feast for the eyes. So go check the Moonchild Tarot, and its sister deck the Starchild Tarot (that I reviewed here!)
A new collection for a new me. ☾
It’s interesting how my taste in tarot has changed over the years. When I was younger, I was drawn to darker, earthier themes and symbolism. Several years later, I crave dreamy, celestial, pastel decks. Bonus points if they’ve got gilding or gold foil.
I bought both of these to suit my new tastes, but I also wanted to dedicate them specifically to Morpheus. I hope to add a few more decks to the Morpheus pool, including the Moonchild Tarot and the Threads of Fate oracle.
Reading for Destructionanddrinks
This is a reading for @destructionanddrinks . I’m so excited for this! I ended up using a combination of all the decks I brought on my trip because it just felt right.
The Question:
What direction should I take with my career? What are my options?
The Spread:
I started with the Starchild Tarot, with one center signifier card. I placed three more cards (3 on intuition) to represent different paths/choices. With each of those paths, I added a card from the Earthbound Oracle as a clarifier/outcome card. I’m going to describe these paths more by how they feel than specific actions, because I feel like you know enough about your situation to know which one is which in your gut. Honesty to yourself is important here. Then, because Lenormand decks tend to be particularly apt with mundane issues like careers, I drew two cards beneath the signifier for advice. The end result looks like this:
Alright, let’s flip it over!
The Reading:
Signifier/Current State:Three of Wands. You’re coming to this from a really good place. You’re self-reliant, for the most part, or getting there soon. You’re focused on the future and not just on immediate payoff. When focusing on long-term financial stuff, that’s really important! Path One: Page of Crystals + Time. This is the “safe” route. It’s responsible, it’s pleasant enough, it’s inoffensive. Nobody is going to feel disappointed in your achievements for taking this route. It’s perfectly fine. It’s enough. It’s not terribly vibrant, but it’s good. To get any huge payoff, it’s going to take, well, time! This one is a slow burn, and it’s going to take patience, but the reward is stable and reliable if you’re willing to put that in. It’s up to you to decide if it’s worth it. Path Two: Three of Cups + Sol. You’ve been inspired! You’ve been enlightened to a cool new direction by someone close to you, or maybe a group of friends, some kind of positive support system! It’s a higher risk-reward than the previous path, but something you’d feel better about emotionally. This is the place you’ll see more creative projects, more expressive endeavors, the kind of stuff that feeds your soul a little bit. You do have the support and skills for success here! That said, play it smart. The sun in Sol is warm and life-giving, it’s bright like the future, but the sun also burns. If you put every single egg in this basket and go too deep with no backup, you could end up sabotaging yourself. Path Three: Queen of Swords + Luna. If the first path is the safe route and the second is the creative risky one, this is the one you feel the most knowledgeable about. This is the one you’re most qualified for on paper, maybe something you prepared for then lost interest in, or something where your experience supports you where in other paths it doesn’t. Much like the first path, this one is fine. There doesn’t feel like there’s much passion attached to it. The moon in Luna in this case I think stands in opposition to Sol: it’s confusion, coldness, being lost, yet serene. This is a path where you will start to feel even MORE lost before it gets any better. This doesn’t mean you’ll feel this way forever! The outcome of this is going to depend a LOT on what steps you take from here, how much effort you sink in, how tactful your choices are, and how motivated you actually feel. The details of this path are the kind of thing that would qualify its own reading, much later when things have time to congeal. Lenormand/Advice: Tower + Book. Isolated study is needed. Take time to separate yourself from other people’s opinions, all the outside noise, and just really sit and think about your options. Lay them out physically. Take as much time as you need; there’s really not as urgent a rush as you’re putting on yourself. What factors are influencing your options? Which ones deserve more attention? Which ones aren’t as big as they seem? Yes, it’s going to be lonely and feel really weird to confront some of this stuff, but it’s necessary to do it because avoiding it won’t solve anything. I wanted more explanation to this so I drew a card from the Augenblick Oracle:
Extra: The Prison Tower. You’re feeling trapped right now between a rock and a hard place. That said, this card calls for reflection on your current situation, much like the Lenormand says. Understanding what lead to the present is crucial to creating your future. I think the book actually hits the nail on the head with this one better than I could try to articulate on my own, so I’m just going to quote it: “Now is the time when truth must be your only goal. Be honest with yourself. What series of events brought you to this place? What part did your actions play? … Are you willing to accept these consequences or are you going to fight? What can you control in this moment?”
Overall:
None of your options look amazing right now, but you also have plenty of room in life to bounce back if you need to. Right now, the best step for moving forward is actually to take some time to look at and sit with your past. Face whatever hard truths you need to. What brought you to this moment right here, what can you take with you into the future and what can you leave behind? As you do this, the best path will probably become more obvious to you. Good luck, and best wishes!
