i'm watching Star Trek while I am working and I just got to Journey to Babel (s2 e10) and I'm absolutely losing it at the fact that Sarek is beefing with his son cause he chose to join Starfleet instead of the Vulcan Science Academy.
Sir. Maybe if your people hadn't been so shitty to him while he was growing up hw might have had more of an interest in staying there HELLO???????

Another iconic Beyond moment.
The fact that they are talking about Bones without having to name him. They just know each other well enough. They know him.
The fact that Spock is like, fuck it I spent the last several hours (days???) with him. His presence isn't so bad. I can handle it a bit longer. I already thought we were going to die together once. I can do it again.
Kirk being like, here we go again. Another southern gentlemanly rant about how he's a doctor not something else. These two idiots better know how much I love them because I am so fucking tired.
Bones screaming inside and trying to be marginally calm on the surface. You know he is cussing Spock and Jim up one side and down the other. You know it. We almost got to see it.
Can we just... Look at this.
The look Spock gives him 🙃 he knows in that moment he can't leave Jim, despite what logic might say is best for New Vulcan.

the comedic timing. the music. everything about this episode is making me laugh, especially the dialogue

I feel like I have said this before but Star Trek Into Darkness was my introduction to the world of Star Trek.
I was freshly sixteen, finishing up my sophomore year of high school and in a standard American chemistry class. my teacher was a super cool lady, a doctor in chem and a massive TOS nerd. She jokingly made our homework assignment to go see Star Trek Into Darkness when it came out in May of 2013.
At that time in my life I was going to the movies with my best friend all the time. I was like, hey let's go see this movie and she agreed because Chris Pine is hot and Benedict Cumberbatch is was one of our favorites back then.
I have never seen the 2009 movie. I have seen bits and pieces of the original series from when my mom watched reruns on TV but it never really spoke to me. I wasn't exactly interested in the Star Trek aspect of it, more so the hot guys and the knowledge that it would make my teacher very happy.
There wasn't a second of that movie I didn't love. I left such a fan of all of the characters, with Spock having a special place in my heart (that remains to this day).
I dunno why I started writing this. I feel like the alternate original movies get a lot of shit sometimes but I really think they did a good job considering what they had to work with.
Star Trek Into Darkness especially. To have a 16 year old girl with absolutely no knowledge of the world on the edge of her seat, watching each scene with total interest, I dunno. It takes a lot to make a movie that is able to stand on its own like that and I think that it deserves that recognition.
For a film that is almost 11 years old now too, it's really stood the test of time.
Y'all I'm showing Mom Strange New Worlds and when it first shows Spock with T'Pring and she says, "Your galavanting about the galaxy with Starfleet."
And Spock responding with, "Galavanting?"
Mom and I were both the shocked Pikachu GIF at T'Pring's audacity.
My mom is dozing now 😂 she never sits still to watch anything except Star Trek, so she often falls asleep when we're watching it together LMAO
