Remember me? Well, I'm here with more news!
Stariel special editions and a promise of a new release announcement coming soon (maybe?)!
the Sun and the Moon
(or something)
Title: Stariel
Author: A.J. Lancaster
Series or standalone: series
Publication year: 2018
Genres: fiction, fantasy, romance, mystery
Blurb: The Lord of Stariel is dead. Long live the Lord of Stariel...whoever that is. Everyone knows who the magical estate will choose for its next ruler...or do they? Will it be the lord's eldest son, who he despised? His favourite nephew, with the strongest magical land-sense? His scandalous daughter, who ran away from home years ago to study illusion? Hetta knows it won't be her, and she's glad of it. Returning home for her father's funeral, all Hetta has to do is survive the family drama and avoid entanglements with irritatingly attractive local men until the Choosing. Then she can leave. But whoever Stariel chooses will have bigger problems than eccentric relatives to deal with. Winged, beautifully deadly problems. For the first time in centuries, the fae are returning to the mortal realm, and only the Lord of Stariel can keep the estate safe.
I recently binge-read all of the Stariel series by AJ Lancaster (which are REALLY enjoyable gaslamp fantasy books with FAIRY NONSENSE, my favorite kind). So have this portrait of the main character Hetta! I'm still sort of figuring out her face, and also how to draw that late Edwardian/Titanic-era Lewk. (This is the Earth equivalent I've settled on in my heart, anyway, due to relatively common car presence but no radios.)
[ID: a pencil drawing on notebook paper of Star and Ariel from the Septimus Heap / Todhunter Moon books dancing together. Star is a tall, black woman with short, gelled-back black hair, dark skin, and dark eyes, wearing a tuxedo. Ariel is a shorter, Asian woman with long curly hair, light brown skin, and dark eyes. Ariel is wearing a fur-lined long sleeved dress.
The drawing shows Star holding Ariel in a tango pose, with Star's back to the camera. They are holding each other closely and gazing into each other's eyes, smiling.

Heard it was lesbian week so I had to draw my favourite lesbians ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
I will forever love any author who goes out of their way to make one of a kind chapter title because some are just *chef's kiss*
Some of my favorite examples from just one book (AJ Lancaster, you are a genius at these):
Mild Kidnapping, For His Own Good
Inconvenient Jealousy
Is it even a Goblin Market if no one gets Abducted?
Botany Nerds Unite
This is your Rake on drugs
Everyone Gets Sentimental
(My personal favorite) Sausages for Justice
Outstanding Decision-Making, Everyone
Even More Bad Things Happen
I read a good book series and I am once again making it everyone’s problem. This is spoilery and disjointed and unedited, just everything I wrote down while listening.
