The knock on the Captain's apartment door was firm at first, but the will behind it evaporated quickly. Stark's forehead slumped against the frame as brown eyes slid shut. A cleansing breath did nothing to still the shaking of his hands.

"... Steve, please. Talk to me. I'm not here to fight-"

The man's words were severed as the door slammed open with a flash of green light, and Tony's body was dragged forward by an unseen force. The air was stolen from his lungs as he found himself pinned fast to the opposite wall of Steve and Loki's apartment, the trickster himself holding an outstretched hand to keep him still without touching the man at all.

"Mr. STARK. Bold of you to show your face here."
