On the face of it, Mark Carney seems kind of like the exception to the rule that Starmerism doesn't work politically, but I think the situation in Canada isn't really directly comparable to either the UK or US, because (1) he came in after a deeply unpopular Prime Minister who was widely (though inaccurately) portrayed as left-wing, and (2) everything in Canada right now is coloured by the feeling that we're in a state of economic war with our former best friend and trading partner, and a lot people are willing to write off anything that Carney does as a necessary exigency to keep the country whole and independent.
