im curious. what are your thoughts on eris
I don’t think he’s the devil a lot of the fandom make him out to be. There were a couple of quotes from him I highlighted in my readalong that were interesting. And even Rhys seems to... somewhat understand him?
I don’t think he’s like Autumn-Rhys, but I also don’t think he’s Beron. He’s done what he needs to survive and seems to be protective of his mother and of Lucien, her favorite. He would do what it takes to protect Lady Vanserra, no matter the cost.
People judge him harshly for the Mor situation, but he’s made it pretty clear he had no idea what happened until he found her on the autumn border. And it’s awful but my guess is it was a calculated choice. If he brought Mor home word would have reached Beron who would have either killed her (since she was ‘their problem now’ as the note said) or he would have forced the marriage anyways, which her bloody state proved how much she didn’t want that.
By leaving her he gave the Illyrians their chance to find her. Again, there are probably ways he could have handled it better but I think... yeah, like I said. He’s not Rhys 2.0, but he’s not pure evil.
At least that’s the impression I was getting in the direction Sarah was taking the character.
Oh, and I ignore everything happening at the High Lord meeting in WAR because they were all wearing masks (except Night at that point). You didn’t get an honest read on anyone.
