‘do you want the good news or the bad news?’ marnie asks as he approaches her. their ten month old is fast asleep in her arms and the smell of freshly cooked food fills the kitchen, ‘the good news is i met the neighbors. the bad news is they already hate us.’ she delivers the news with a smile, recalling the conversation they had on the drive here. they weren’t a couple that made friends easily and it was only a matter of time before they became the weird family on the block, ‘they have a son about dylan’s age so they asked if he wanted to play. it took all of three minutes before dylan bit the other kid.’ she shakes her head. currently her three year old was sat on the couch in the living room, completely invested in some crappy horror movie on tv, ‘maybe don’t let him watch those zombie movies anymore?’ she offered with a chuckle, ‘oh, and it gets better, apparently sadie has gotten into a hair pulling phase. she’s starting her terrible twos early.’ she joked, their daughter was just over twenty months months old and before she turned two baby number four would be here, ‘but on the upside i made your favorite for dinner.’ she murmurs, leaning in to kiss him, ‘and according to the doctor, i am officially in the ‘could pop at any moment’ stage of this pregnancy.’ she wasn’t due for three more weeks but both sadie and gabriel had come before their due dates too.
