Khan scowled and scratched at his shoulder blade. The device sat right under his skin and was beginning to get annoying. It hadn't started out being a nuisance but lately, as time had passed since its insertion, it was beginning to make its presence known. He set down the device he'd been working on; perfecting one of Scotty's ideas. He knew the Scotsman would thank him in the long run for it, especially if he provided a bottle of scotch with the improved device. He smirked as he thought how easy it was pacify the engineer. He wasn't entirely sure what he thought of the man. That praticular man hadn't done anything to him except follow the captains orders, so he had no personal grudge against him but at the same time he worked for Starfleet and so far he hadn't met anyone who was honest from that place.
Then his thoughts turned to how he had learned that, and why he was there. He scowled and picked the instrument back up. Starfleet believed that they could reform him by using the device in his shoulder. He knew that if he did something they believed was 'wrong' then he would be shocked until he couldn't move of his own accord. He had already experienced this several times when he was still testing it out. It had been most unpleasant. He also knew that the people of rank who worked with him all had a clicker that allowed them to activate the device if they deemed it necessary.
They believed that if they could simply find a way to inflict a punishment that he would slowly give in to their way of thinking. He scoffed as he thought about the lunacy that ran amok among this generation. He would not forgive them so easily. He would not forgive them for everything that had been done to him; for how they used his crew against him. How they murdered them. He gave a growl of frustration as his vision blurred. He slammed the thing down and wiped the tear that had started down his face. He noted that his hands were shaking which only made him the more upset. He was better than this. He did not bend to such simple emotions.
But even as he tried to deny that he was really feeling grief, even after time had passed the emotion wouldn't leave him. He slid down the wall and held his head up with his hand. No one was around, it would be acceptable this one time to grieve. He hadn't allowed himself to feel anything for his crew since he had crashed the Vengeance. Even then he'd had to collect himself quickly to react, to make plans. He closed his eyes trying to block out their faces but they seemed to only become more vivid.
He snapped his head up when he heard the foot falls enter the room. He quickly wiped his face ridding it of the tears and took a steadying breath. He'd almost forgotten where he was and that he was never alone for long. Once he had re-centered he stood up and looked towards the path he knew the new comer would take. He shouldn't have allowed himself to succumb to the lesser human emotion. Grieving wouldn't solve anything. It wouldn't help him extract revenge on those responsible for the death of his family. If anything it only helped to make him look weak. He picked the device back up and started to tinker with it but not really bothering with it anymore waiting for the foot steps to make their way around the corner.
