Modified Stash-It Update:
I made some modifications to Stash-Its some time ago. I created some useful additions to them by sewing on some of the velcro you can get in the L.I Store. Ive been testing and using the result for a while now and considered it worthy of an update and wanted to feedback to those that had asked about it.
I used to use a plastic box, or a tin for carrying a complete package of tools. This is a good reliable method of carry but after a few knocks to my knee on a debus I wanted something a bit more knee cap friendly. I like a tin or box, don't misunderstand me they can be invaluable. The down side is the bulk can be spotted and in cargo style pants they can move around a bit or jab into leg muscles when knocked.
Id been using Stash-Its for a while for various things, the list of their uses is growing every day as more and more people find a new avenue of applications. By creating a bag that can act like a folding wallet you get the best of both worlds, a bag when you need it, and a thin foldable wallet that can be slipped into your underwear, a cargo pocket, in a sock or a lot of other creative places. Essentially you can eliminate the bowling ball effect of most harder style housings.
The other addition of the modified Stash-It is that the cord can still be kept without causing a problem. In fact it becomes more useful. I slipped a Photon Freedom light onto the cord and folded it all into the package. This meant the light was protected, and if required the cord could be tugged a little to pull it from the fold and be on hand to be used. If I needed hands free operation then the wallet end could be tucked a little into my plate carrier or shirt and the light operated with my teeth. Once I am done the light can be folded back into the wallet and its all safe and easy to stow the entire package again.
If you need to find something within the Stash-It 'wallet' you can use the light to look in, even if you rip open the bags to get at something, the rest of that bags contents wont be lost as its held by the fold. I've not lost anything so far, I've been EDC'ing it for quite some time and using it daily. The Stash-It still looks in great condition and no losses to report.
The 8x6 size folded is perfect for dress pants as well as a more combat orientated clothing. It seems to just tick so many boxes and every one that has been using them finds them a really great addition. If there is enough interest in this as a main stream item I'll look into seeing if it can be pre-made to save you having to sew it. Perhaps a pre-order to meet the needs for a batch?
There is a limited supply of the Black Stash-Its left, but there is a good supply of the New Gray version that matches the SSB from OscarDelta perfectly.
