States anon here back with ANOTHER long ass ramble. this message got eaten by tumblr like a left sock I think (unless I missed the reply) but. Vinland/Newfoundland as 2P!Canada. He was born ~1000 CE and hung out with the Vikings for a while before they left, maybe he was a bit like Prussia for a while?

Because Vinland was SUCH a big part of European exploration mythos bc it was ~The Dangerous Place~ (meanwhile its just like. Coastal Canada LMFAO) so even though maybe the colonies didn't last, the stories about it kept little Vinnie alive. Also it was the Norse Vikings who were there for a bit, which means Norway was possibly faced with a child, which is just funny to me. Until I try to think about a name that fits Vinland and I suddenly collapse bc "Vinnie" is cute and works well but is only a nickname of Vinland, not a "real" name, so did Norway even name him?? Norway u hoe

Anyways though. Hes pretty chill. That's an Old Norse name also beaning bear, and im being told that Bersi is the pet form of that name. If you wanna move away from that I like the idea of going with an N name to contrast Matt, and Nóri is kinda cute! that website says it means "little piece" which is cute considering what Vinland was. idk that website has 3000 old norse names for you to peruse. Vinnie is cute as a nickname but i agree he should have something Real to be embarrassed about.

About Virginia! Alfred: It's now I see that Alfred become more like his father in this AU by one point. Arthur is England, but also represents the UK. So Virginia! Alfred was the representative of American Colonies as being the older of them and Arthur's favorite. And when they form the American Union, maybe temporally he maybe could shared being the representative with the one who had the nation's power, or the capital until gradually he become the only USA official representative in international things, like Arthur represents his union with his brothers in reunions (and etc) and business.

omg so yummy and so true we do have a precedent for one nation of many speaking for others and virginia alfred is just soooo.......... good. like as of 2024, VA was a blue state, but its also very rural in parts so its kinda Both. and with that proximity to DC (though really its more on the maryland side, but the point being that DC is neither) hes just perfect to be the representative. he was the first colony, the eldest, and has always assumed that position.

but now hold it. if we are talking about virginia alfred we HAVE to talk about the civil war as, famously, a third of virginia decided not to leave the union, instead leaving virginia, and creating west virginia. thats a big can of worms to deal with. whats the situation with the NP of west virginia in this scenario? thats a lot to unpack, people.

i love virginia alfred. esp because the other states might would resent him. like i can see cali and texas being like "why tf does he get to call all the shots? hes not even in the top ten ranked by gdp." and its like OH its bc he was daddy's favorite 400 years ago. and the interesting thing here is that a MAJORITY of states would not view arthur as a father. hmmmmmm

State au guy here I am nodding and humming and agreeing with the points being made. I personally wanted the challenge of creating a large amount of distinct characters LMAO like how Hima did so with the countries.

The au started because my friend went to school in Massachusetts and we were joking about 2PMerica/Allen being a Masshole and it snowballed from there😭 (I personally have some issues when ppl make 2PMerica the South, it can go REALLY wrong REALLY quickly imo but thats too much to get into) (unless you want me to👀👀👀)

I meant to reblog your reply but I feel asleep BUT I really liked it!!! The idea of Amelia being perfect in his head is REALLY interesting. ALFRED TAKE ESTROGEN. STAT. but I also love real wv Amelia. I love them both. They’re both really cool ideas. On the WV front, if that were her, that makes her even more Perfect because that’s the part of the state that stayed with the Union, and I’m really becoming obsessed with this idea that Alfred feels soiled because of that. But also maybe if he took some estrogen (s)he’d feel better.

And that’s already semi canon to me because I love playing with the idea of Alfred feeling inadequate next to the man made idea of Columbia, meanwhile he’s the real deal and he can’t be as perfect and holy as she is. I just love this stuff man
