And conversely, them still calling him that even as they age and he doesn’t, them passing it onto their children, who pass it on. Alfred who watches them all age while he doesn’t and who can’t do anything but who still stays as much a part of their lives as he can, because Jenny and Tyler would have wanted it, he can still see bits and pieces of them in their descendants.
Do you think after Francis arrived and got around to christening Matthew he was given one of those really long french catholic names? I imagine even though Francis wasn’t particularly devot he still held a christening for Matthew because of the societal expectations and as a way to show him off lol. I’ve read fics where Matts full name is like Louis Jospeh Matthieu Philippe Bonnefoy. Very fancy and slightly pretentious lol what would your Matthew be called or would Francis not bother in your AU?
Lmao yes I think he would do those things even though he’s not religious and had no intention of raising Matthew to be religious 💀 I think this is also why there’s a running joke about Matthew not having a middle name—because the first chance he got, he had it down that his name was MATTHEW. WILLIAMS. none of that other stuff. Because the rest of it was just too long to be be practical. Francis thinks it’s funny and still addresses birthday cards to him with his full name
