hi! i love your themes and all the coding that you do. im currently using your tutorials to build my own theme! but i was wondering on all of your theme posts, how do you make the static preview? bc they're pages but they have posts on them?

Hello! I was just wondering how I would make a static preview for a theme??? I'm beginning to learn how to code THANKS TO YOUR TUTORIALS *heart eyes* and a couple of my friends were wanting to see what I can do/have been asking for customized themes. I would really appreciate any help with this! THANK YOU AGAIN, YOU'RE A ROCKSTAR!!!

making a static preview has a few advantages - 

1. you don’t have to make a sideblog to host each preview.2. they will have all of the features of a normal theme ( the only difference being, any pagination or navigation to something like an ask won’t work ( popups, scripts, hover stuff etc. will all still work ).

so how to make?

usually you will need a new blog or a sideblog to set these previews up.  i set up a separate blog for mine.  what you’re going to do is make a new page for each preview you’d like to display.  you will need to have a few posts on your sideblog already - because this is what’s going to display on your preview ( try to have more than 10 so that your pagination shows up... ).  then, install your new theme on your sideblog...

to make the static preview - you need to ‘view source’ - check how to do this in your browser 

e.g. in chrome, click the menu bars, then more tools, then developer tools. 

then make sure ‘sources’ is highlighted and that you’re viewing the ‘index’ page for your blog.

and copy the whole code.

now go into your theme editor and make a new page - make sure it’s a ‘custom layout’ and just paste in the code you copied from your sideblog.

hit preview and save.  and that’s it!  static preview!  just link people to the page so they can view your theme :3

to make a new static preview, just install your next theme on your sideblog, copy the code from there, and make another page...
