Perhaps the hardest hearts were once the most tender. Maybe the most indifferent once cared the most. Maturing without losing your heart is a quiet victory—one worth celebrating. Hold on to your kindness. 💙✨

The Corona Virus does not simply affect those who have become infect, it's affecting an entire demographic.
I'd like to start off that I'm Vietnamese. Mondays are baby time at my local library and I always take my 13 month old son. They usually have chairs there for parents but mostly, people sit on the rug with their babies. I've seen 12 pairs all sit on the rug before and this week, there are about 8 pairs. 4 caucasian parents to my right decided to sit in chairs and the pushed it further away. At first I thought they were new and preferred not to sit on the rug as well as just making room. I got a lot of space despite it being quite full.
Then at the end of the session, it's a time for the babies to play together with a box of toys that they bring out. The same 4 parents took their babies and decided to talk just outside the room. Again I thought this was odd.
It wasn't until I got home hours later that I realize they were probably afraid of me and my son. I was entertained and annoyed by how ridiculous that was. If my brain wasn't so slow to realize, I would have made some snarky comment like, "Oh, are you concerned about the Corona Virus? Do you not know how to wash your hands properly?".
But then I really thought about it. There is no point in complaining. They were just trying to protect their children. So I decided to forgive them. Forgive them for their ignorance. Forgive them for their cautiousness. Forgive them for their prejudice.
There is so much hate, and fear and discrimination in the world that we're doing a good job of killing each other without the help of those viruses. I want to be the bigger person and not be petty. I want to be the better person and be compassionate.
I'm not the only asian person who is experiencing this kind of discrimination. It's amazing how fear can so easily divide us. But to those who have been wronged like I have, remember that it's not personal. They are just trying to protect themselves.
But really guys..... learn to read. Know truth from fiction. Protect yourself by being educated and not by ignorant prejudice.

Take a look around you: it seems quite easy to misjudge, to disconsider, to critique, to put a label, right?! It's quite tempting.
It's hard to put yourself in one's shoes, to truly understand the others around you. Have you at least tried to?! This is a skill that requires true kindness, empathy, and open-mindedness = emotional intelligence. Now, who wouldn't want to be intelligent, and especially nowadays when everything else is evolving?
