"Not too many people know this, except for my immediate family and close friends, but I have been battling ptsd silently for 17 years of my life [since I was 19 years old], when I was 19, at 4:10 am, as I was walking home from a morning walk, I was randomly stopped crossing a short road that lead to the trailers and I walked by this stretch of road everyday but this morning it was anything but a peaceful walk home because I was stopped by a black car with tinted windows. Two men got out, and then the driver. I never met these guys in my life, and as they were asking me about an electric saw that they were selling, telling me it was in their back seat, I told them that I didn't need one or know anyone who needed one then the next thing I know, I was on the ground being beaten to an inch of my life, and then I was almost shot and killed by one of the 2 men as their driver watched. before that happened there was a moment for a while, as I was lying there, I really thought it was the end because it just felt like this is it, but it wasn't, because when one of the guys was reaching for his gun in his waistband and the other was backed off, that is when I found the opening and took it. So I got up, bruised and all, and ran behind me up a small hill into a large patch of land with my head ducked just incase one of them was going to shoot me from my back, and the suprising thing is that they didn't. Instead, they were so calm about what they just did to me that it amused them, because when they got in their car and drove off, I yelled to them in a loud voice, "WHYYY," and one of them yelled back, "FUCK YOU BITCH!" And the next thing that happened was I stood there for a while because I didn't know if they would of came back to finish me off, and so I waited and waited. Then I took a chance and walked home bleeding from my head, and I think I had broken ribs. And when I got home, my dad and my sister were awake, and they seen the blood on my face, and my sister cleaned me up, and my dad was worried. And when I told them what happened, my sister said, do you want to call the police, and I said no, because it was too dark to even see their faces, and I didnt get the license plate because of how far I was. Then, after about 10 minutes, my mom called, and she said she got some disturbing texts from my number, and I told her that I didnt text her all that morning. And then I looked for my phone in my pocket, but it wasn't there, and then I thought they might of took my phone. And she said the texts werent something that I would say because of how bad the spelling is, because she knew how good of a speller I was, and so I told her what happened and said I think the guys that assaulted me stole my phone. And then, after all of that, my mom said her goodbyes, and we both hung up on each other. And after that had happened, it was just the worst time of my life. I stopped going for walks. I didnt even go far enough to watch the cars drive by, and months went by. And around that time, I had all the time in the world to take my frustration out on the world and chose the easy road and used my trauma as an excuse to treat people like shit, but I didn't. Instead, I got help because I was in a bad place after it happened, because It almost destroyed me. I can say this much, though, I may not be where I want to be mentally because trauma and ptsd is a lifetime illness that I would never wish upon not even my worst enemy, but I am far away from where I used to be, because the 19 year old version wouldn't of made it this far if he stayed there, because I was so lost, but this older version found himself on the broken road that lead him to a peaceful life."
