St Brelade’s Bay from Winston Churchill Gardens. Jersey is starting to feel more spring-like every day. Cherry trees are starting to bloom, shrubs that in the UK start flowering in May are starting to come into flower and most importantly of all - potatoes are here! I’m about to have my first meal consisting entirely of Jersey Royal new potatoes, butter and mint. (Mostly because I have yoga tonight so I am not going to cook!). As life starts returning to some semblance of normality I am thankful that Jersey has made good progress with controlling the virus and getting the vaccination programme underway and I am looking forward to being able to travel very soon. Another no swim day 😞 It’s been really windy and the tides haven’t really been in my favour. It’s back to work tomorrow so that means I have to be more organised with swims and where to go. I find that having a plan helps so that I can leave work and head straight to the beach h. It’s a bit blowy out there tonight so I’m not sure what tomorrow will look like. Instead we went for a walk at St Aubin. It would have been OK to swim but the tide was at its lowest. I love this end of St Brelade’s Bay, it’s generally a bit quieter then the main beach. When you go on a study day and the lunch and desserts are immense! No time to photograph the full tray as these went pretty fast. They were so good too, I *only* had two! The mini lemon meringue with blueberries and the apricot custard with some sort of pistachio paste made into leaf shapes. Sooooooo gooooooood! This was at St Brélades Bay Hotel, I’ve booked one of their winter overnight stays for two at the end of December, only £159 for a sea view room with a balcony. Beautiful flowers already to go out in the tables at Off The Rails cafe today in St Brélade. When I first moved to Jersey I lived in the parish of St Brélade and La Corbière lighthouse was a five minute drive or a 45 minute walk along the cliff path. Now it takes a bit more effort to get here as I live in Trinity but I don’t think I will ever tire of this view. It is breathtaking every time I see it and in every type of weather. My favourite is during a storm when the waves are crashing against the rocks and the wind quite literally takes your breath away. Even on a dull January day the water is an amazing shade of turquoise.
