I'm watching John Mulaney 's "The comeback Kid" on netflix and .. is he an epstein victim?
I saw a video of a dude saying stds are normal bc they are asymptomatic and it really pissed me off. of course a man would say that. so many stds are asymptomatic in men and not women, or seem asymptomatic until several years later you get cancer from hpv (although technically men can also get cancer from it it’s just less likely). apparently bacterial vaginosis might be an std that only shows symptoms in women.
this guy was a drag queen too, so possibly a gay man, which is interesting because gay men are notoriously a demographic disproportionately impacted by a very famous std. but I guess now medicine has come so far in treating it that it doesn’t matter anymore and the topic can be treated lightheartedly.
Hi certifiedsexed! If all the anal sex I have is with a condom, is going on prep still important for me?
Hello! 💕✨
Well, that depends!
If you're having anal sex, especially frequently, it is often more likely you could catch HIV than a lot of other types of sex, even if you wear a condom. The lining of the anus is thin, which means if someone is inserting their penis into it, you're more susceptible than if you and that someone had simply been grinding together.
Rectal fluid can also carry HIV, so you can also catch it if you're penetrating them! It's a lot like wearing a condom to prevent pregnancy-They can still break and accidents can happen.
So, if you're going to worry about that, you might still want to go on pREP, just in case, so you don't have to worry.
But if you're not worried about it and/or don't want to take regular medication like that, you might just have some PEP around, which is medicine people take after a possible exposure to HIV to stop it from taking hold.
But either way, its completely your choice. If you're having anal sex with a condom, you're far less likely to get HIV, especially if you're asking your partner(s) about their status beforehand and getting tested regularly, so whether its important to you is really up to you.
You get to decide whether its important! Hopefully this information helps you figure that out but if you're still wondering about it, feel free to ask more questions and here's a pretty good article on it if you're interested!
