Stardrifting War Story
"The Terran Conflict, for example. You never talk about that. You're a vet, right?"
"Yeah," answered the Le-Korian in black as he lit up a small circle of cherry incenses. "What's there to talk about outside the start and finish? Terrans got greedy and crossed into our space, so we rallied and put them in their place."
"That's..." The blonde Onu-Korian scratched his head. "Well, I wanna say 'unusual' a feeling, but you fliers always preferred travel and exploration to actual combat, so I can make sense of that."
"To a fault. Yes, I know, mountain boy." The Le-Korian brought the burning incense down the floor, twirling a finger to lightly spin the air around him and carry the fragrance across the whole room. A calendar in the background waved a little bit. Koday, Iwatsuki 31st, 1043AI.
The Le-Korian sighed as he thought back. "We could have made our point crystal clear without a single casualty if we hadn't taken the fight to their home star. Lost tens of thousands thanks to that. But that's neither here nor there. What's your point?"
"I'm a little skeptical of the official story, is all. And from what I'm hearing, I think I'm right to be."
"A little bit." The Le-Korian sat back down. "Reports of that first battle are exactly as I remember. Dragon Fire from our cruisers makes short work of their invading fleets, we touch down on that mined-bare dwarf planet, and we make an example of every able-bodied fighter that crosses us. I don't care how harsh they think of it, they were the ones crossing into our domain until we stopped them."
"No, I get that. You can't go tit-for-tat with someone trying to kill you."
"Right?! And they had fighters with them! We went easy on those bastards, if you ask me. Even before they killed some of ours."
The Onu-Korian's phone buzzed in his pocket, and - with a small apology - he pulled it out to check. An email from the Academy. He scrolled through the contents before closing the phone with a huff.
"Ultra geeks deny you again?" asked the Le-Korian.
"Eeeeyup!" The Onu-Korian rubbed his forehead in annoyance. "And once again, no straight answer as to why. Fucking hells, man, just call me 'crazy' again like everyone else is doing."
"Ah, to hell with those dough heads, Jeff." The Le-Korian waved his hand dismissively. "Just build the damn thing yourself and show'em what for."
"That's the plan at this point, Lugyter," replied the Onu-Korian. "You know, once I actually make enough money to pay for it."
Lugtyer shrugged with a grin. "Screw it, I'll sponsor you."
"For real??" Jeff leaned on the edge of his seat.
"Of course! I ain't missing the chance to buy the world's first handheld starship cannon!"
I'm bored, so I'm posting another song parody that I wrote up and slapped the "stealth lore" tag onto because this song is a single off Mighty Mallet's Redbellion-based album (which I decided a year ago is like ancient Gelidan history).
Mighty Mallet - "Universe On Fire"
(To the tune of the Gloryhammer song of the same name)
How does your muse come across in the show, what did they get wrong, and what did they get right, but wasn't true LOL.
I planned on posting this one later, but as it happens the people of Gelida are big fans of that show, and the Solar Prince of Al-Kapown is something of a breakout character in the fanbase, so much that Mighty Mallet wrote a song about him!
It is currently their most popular song.
Mighty Mallet - He Has Arrived
(To the tune of Gloryhammer's "He Has Returned")
The forbidden path began with ice magic.
RP? Nah, copy/pasting stealth lore in the form of power metal song parody I wrote a few weeks ago. Three guesses as to which Demon Lord this is about based on the title (first two don't count).
Mighty Mallet - "Dragon of Infinite Pain"
(To the tune of Rhapsody of Fire's "Power of the Dragonflame")
There is one, and only one, difference between science and magic.
That difference? Reverence.
