Steamfresh, 520 W Garvey Ave, Monterey Park, CA 91754
Steamfresh is a new Hong Kong/Cantonese restaurant in MP. I wanted to try their mid-afternoon tea time special that I saw in a photo. Unfortunately, they no longer offer the tea time special and are closed for a mid-afternoon break.
The menu includes appetizers, limited dim sum, congee, rice noodle rolls, claypot, rice dishes, noodles, drinks (e.g., Hong Kong milk tea), and desserts. The menu indicates vegetarian dishes, spicy dishes, and dishes containing shrimp or nuts.
Pork liver rice noodle roll ($6.38): The rice noodles were thin, silky, and fresh. But the pork liver was in small pieces and dry (overcooked). I would not order it again.
Century egg & fresh pork congee ($12.38): Very good – flavorful, broken down. The sliced pork was very tender. Huge chunks of century egg. It was topped with fresh scallions. I liked the addition of fresh ginger.
The restaurant chairs and tables didn't really suit the brown interior. It's not as grand as a dim sum place but more of a mom and pop.
Online ordering is available. Service was friendly but a bit slow. Some of the signs are in Chinese only but the menu has Chinese and English.
4 out of 5 stars.
