When Nasrin built her first steam-powered clock at age four, her parents knew she was a genius. When she cast her first electricity spell at age ten, they knew she was a prodigy. And when she enchanted her first automaton at age thirteen, they knew she’d surpass them both.

STORY
The only daughter of Frederick and Delara Lockwood, Nasrin is equally driven as she is talented. After graduating top of her class at Copperdale Academy, she moved to the big city and opened her very own shop, “Brass & Baubles.” Offering an eclectic array of objects, Nasrin sells mechanical limbs, small automatons, repair parts, trinkets, and everything in between. Everyone in the Spice District knows that if you need something made right, you go to the Lockwood girl’s shop. And if you need something not quite aboveboard, well… There’s rumors that Nasrin dabbles in enchanted steamworks, despite her lack of a license.
Nasrin may seem to have it made with her successful business, natural talent, and hardworking personality, but there are prices to perceived perfection. Constantly pushing herself beyond her limits, Nasrin can often be found passed out at her desk, half-finished blueprints acting as her makeshift pillow. She’s worried her parents sick with how dedicated she can be to her work, and even Nasrin has begun to wonder if there’s more to life than inventing gadgets.
When she read in the paper that Penny Pizzazz was looking for her other half, Nasrin decided to throw her hat in the ring as a potential suitor. Everyone knows of the infamous Ms. Coleman, and Nasrin is no exception. If she had developed somewhat of a celebrity crush over the years, and this opportunity is a dream come true… Well, that’s no one’s business but her own, isn’t it?

Her mother was born Delara Behnam, and was part of a prestigious, high-society spellcaster family from Glimmerbrook. She was disowned after she abandoned her arranged fiancé (a man from another distinguished spellcaster family) at the altar to run away with her lover, Nasrin’s father.
Her father, Frederick Lockwood, was a mechanic and inventor in his own right before his declining health forced him to retire.
While her family never had a lot of money, Nasrin grew up extremely well-loved and cared for.
She cares very deeply for her parents, and sends much of her earnings back home to them in Copperdale.
She wanted to attend university, but lacked the funds to do so.
Her best friend is a woman of high society, who met Nasrin while perusing her shop. Nasrin has heard a lot about Penny from her, which is how she developed her small crush.
She’s had a number of flings, but has never been in a serious courtship before.
She has a good singing voice, but is surprisingly self-conscious about it. She doesn’t sing in front of people.

With all the new steampunk cc that’s been posted recently, I just had to try it on my sims!
What would Tony, Kellie and Terry do in the Age of Steam you ask? Terry would be an inventor struggling for recognition with Kellie as his loyal assistant. Tony would be rich, of course, because he knows his way around in any historical period. And how would these three meet? Tony decides to sponsor Terry’s newest project, but not out of kindness of his heart, not at all. He has his eyes set on the lovely assistant and the sponsorship is a great excuse to see her anytime he likes and also prevent Terry from getting too close to the object of his desire.

I can’t seem to focus on anything for more than about 40 minutes at the moment--mainly because of this heavy cold that’s making me feel so bad--but I managed to get most of the interior decor finished on the steampunk WiP.
Incidentally, does anyone else have that really annoying problem with TS3 whereby some textures suddenly get a shiny mottled overlay to them? Look at the floor pattern in the first shot. It wasn’t like that in the last set of screenshots that I took. At first I thought it was some CC pattern I had installed that was causing the problem, but this build is on my cc-free laptop. I’ve had this texture crop up on all kinds of patterns, but it’s mainly wood ones. (The overlay seems to be the glittery one from the ‘rubber and plastics’ section.)
I finally got a Sim into that cc-free Steampunk WiP house I’m working on, so I’ve got some live mode shots for you. I love those steam boiler stage props, because they give off actual dirty steam in live mode. It really adds to the atmosphere.I’m trying to make this as jury-rigged a steampunk-type location as possible, so the oven has all kinds of vents and ducts and levers to make it work, etc.
