@steeledwill / a holiday starter for Peter
Gwen didn’t like to keep secrets from her friends. She had always felt that they only caused problems. She was a fan of transparency but there was one thing she had always kept a secret. It was for safety and security and another million excuses Steve had always given her. As a kid, he’d always get down on one knee so that they were eye to eye when he would say that it wasn’t shame that kept her adoption a secret but instead it was because he loved her too much to let anything happen. She had always understood why, even as a kid, but that didn’t mean it didn’t bother or cause some problems in her life.
The big secret meant many lies that came with keeping an act up. Bogues excuses about why people couldn’t come to her house or why her parents never came to any of her events. Little things like that but over the years she could tell her friends were getting more suspicious and then there had been that period of time where she and Peter had both been lying. It wasn’t until Peter had come clean about being Spiderman that she had finally convinced Steve to let her tell him her secret and right on time for the holidays too. She was finally going to get it off her chest, even if her way of telling him was a bit of an ambush.
She quickly jogged down the hall to meet Peter at the exit of the school. “ Hey so I know we had plans already but I thought we might change it up,” she said smiling sweetly at the taller boy. “Maybe instead of exchanging gifts at your place, we could do it at my apartment.” Nobody ever came to her home. There were too many pictures of her and Steve or evidence of his hero antics but that would probably help her cause in this situation. “ There’s a bit of a surprise I have to show you.”
