So TVD is coming to an end
It would be a shame for me not to say something just because I stopped watching (Plec’s fault). TVD was the first fandom I entered, the fandom was so fun and welcoming (with the occasional arguing but everybody has those days). Delena was my first OTP and will always have a special place in my heart as my fave OTP, even Stelena and Klaroline. I’d be lying if I said that TVD didn’t mark me forever. The character were so complex and they just made you want to invest in them no matter how flawed they were. And yes I stopped after Kai died because it wasn’t the same, especially after Klaus, Kol and Katherine had left as well. I just missed them too much to continue watching. I look back at the episodes and I can truthfully say I’ve never enjoyed a show as much as I did TVD. I have nothing but good memories. It was with me for years and I’ll still be going back to enjoy the episodes to feed that raging Nostalgia. So long TVD, you will be missed greatly.
The Stelena Endgame That Could Have Been
If Delena had only been a Season 4 relationship, I would have written it as Elena exploring her feelings for Damon while she was a new vampire, only to gradually realize that passion and love are not the same thing.
Elena would still care deeply about Damon, but as the sire bond is broken and she gains more clarity, she would begin to see that many of the things she loved about herself—her values, compassion, and sense of right and wrong—were strongest when she was with Stefan. The relationship with Damon would ultimately serve as a chapter of self-discovery rather than her final destination.
By the end of Season 4, Elena would realize that despite her feelings for Damon, Stefan is the person she cannot imagine her life without. Not because Damon was a mistake, but because Stefan was always the person who understood her best, supported her growth, and knew her better than anyone else.
From there, Seasons 5 and 6 would focus on Stefan and Elena rebuilding trust after everything that happened. Instead of immediately getting back together, they would have to earn their way back to each other. The doppelgänger storyline, Elena thinking about Stefan all summer, Stefan refusing to give up on her, and Elena repeatedly turning to him for support would all become stepping stones toward a reunion.
The endgame would be Elena choosing Stefan not because Damon failed, but because after loving both brothers, experiencing life as a vampire and as a human, and facing every challenge imaginable, she finally understands that Stefan was always her true partner. The story would come full circle with the same choice she made in Season 3: Stefan is the one she loves, and the one she chooses
I also think this same realization could happen after Elena takes the cure and becomes human again. Once she’s no longer influenced by heightened vampire emotions and is finally able to reflect on everything with a clear mind, she could come to understand that while she loved Damon, Stefan was always the love of her life. Becoming human again would bring her journey full circle and lead her back to the person who knew her best from the very beginning
Stelena had the most romantic scenes in the entire show. The chemistry, the build-up, and the emotional moments just hit differently
The fact that Paul Wesley is actually relieved Stefan died and didnt end up with Elena so he doesn’t have to deal with Delena fans anymore really says everything about that fandom
