So a few weeks ago I began a playthrough of Dragon Age: Inquisition after not playing for 3 years. Made a rogue Trevelyan, Tess, romanced Cullen and it was fun, but just...lacking something. I couldn’t figure her out, couldn’t figure out what made her tick, what her back story was.
Tess Trevelyan did not speak to me.
So I made a new inquisitor, Stella Lavellan (and no I did not think that through in the character creator, which shows how long it’s been since I’ve played). She’s young, not even out of her teens, always laughing and joking, a real smartass and not afraid to stand up to anyone. And smart as a whip. Obviously sent to the Conclave in the hope that it would make her take things a little more seriously.
Stella talks to me. Stella doesn’t shut up. Varric is fascinated by her.
“She’s something, alright,” he writes to Hawke. “Almost as reckless as you in a fight, let her out in the open and turn to say something, and she’s in a tree or halfway up a mountain, or smacking a bear in the face with her staff (I shit you not -- a bear). Everything’s a laugh, every man a potential lover: we’ve got a Grey Warden who follows her around like a puppy, a Qunari who’s beginning to look at her like she’s dessert, I’m keeping a list of how many different shades of red Cullen’s turned when she talks to him, and that hobo apostate, I mentioned -- I’d say he’s apprehensive, but I’m not sure if he’s worried she’s going to pounce or he is.
It’s like Rivaini and Daisy had a love child, if you can imagine that.
And the jokes -- nothing’s so serious she can’t joke about it. Reminds me of Blondie in the early days when Justice still let him out to play.
Shit.
