Color Headcanons || Accepting

mallow: what sorts of things might remind your muse of those close to them? any scents, objects, sounds?

Most of the time, seeing as he is surrounded by the people he knows and cares about 24/7, this sort of thing isn’t so prominent. They see the same sights, hear the same sounds, on the daily. It’s outside influence that has an effect on him, and mostly it’s flavors and smells that’ll remind him of home. 

A certain sort of weather when they touch down on a planet, peaches, the scent of a good bourbon. He doesn’t see many dogs anymore for obvious reasons, but when he does, he remembers Jasper, and in turn remembers his family. Tribbles remind him of Jo, because ( @jojomccoy )’s is always asking for one, and he’s always saying no.

honey: when your muse loves someone (whether it be romantic, platonic, or familial love), how do they show it?

Most often through touches that are surprisingly tender. Praise that is soft and intimate, just for the person he’s talking to. If it’s platonic, it’s casual touch that he feels free and easy enough to engage in, jokes (usually at your expense). In any situation, he’s one for tough love. Not because he’s trying to be mean, but because in his eyes, the best thing he can possibly do for the people he cares about is be honest with them, and to help them be the best possible versions of themselves. 

chartreuse: if you had to describe your muse with a color, what color would it be and why?

Green, I think. Like a very earthy shade of green. It represents the environment he’s always loved and desperately misses, but it’s also... grounded? Is that the word I want? In that whole ‘Luna, Terra, Sol’ thing, he’s Terra. He’s earth. That’s always seemed perfect to me.

useless headcanons / accepting.

ben’s openly friendly and social with strangers ( the norm where he grew up ) and always one to offer help. this has led to a friendship with the old lady that lives above him. he helped her bring up shopping bags one day, and now always asks if she needs help with odds-and-ends. meave always keeps him after to chat, and when ben noticed she was trying to make the little shared garden nicer he goes down to help on most sunday afternoons. they share recipes and she asks what on earth he gets up to when he’s clearly a tad hungover. this is also something you can notice just spending time with him - ben will chat with one of the ladies at the library, a guy that works at a lunch place he frequents, etc. 

if you get a note from ben, it’s always going to be on patterned paper - cats, totoro, etc. if he likes you, he’ll add a sticker ( it’s also how he figures out what baked goods he boxed up for you ). yes, ben’s a fully grown man, and yes, he’s never going to pick plain stationery when so many cute versions exist. ben has beautiful handwriting, very suited to fountain pens.

ben talks to his cat, bilbo, and makes bilbo ‘talk back.’ he gives him a grumpy old man voice with a thicker accent than his. this is a genuine back-and-forth thing, both due to living alone and ben just being ben. sometimes he forgets not to do it in company.
