Do you ever think the other batfam people get jealous of Dick and Jason’s relationship?
Like sure yeah Dick loves them all too but he’s everyone’s older brother and goddammit they love being smothered.
Sure Tim has nicknames but never one for him. Not the way Dick calls Jay Little wing with so much love and affection in those two words. The way his eyes light up and everyone can see Jason fighting back a smile of his own.
It’s a habit. Every single time. When Dick is in distress, or wants to be alone, Jason is the first one that goes to help him, officially or not. He’s seen Dicks darker days when he was Robin and knows Dick wouldn’t want any of his younger siblings to see him like that.
There’s that unspoken bond between the first and the second robin, one that no one can even hope to understand. Dick always knows Jason’s habits, his guilty pleasures and ticks because he knew him before things went downhill. He knows the specific hum Jason does when he’s upset, how he re-reads Pride and Prejudice when he’s anxious, or how he always leaps to Jason’s side.
And Jason knows everyone’s jealousy. So he makes extra sure to bask in Dicks affection right in front of them. He wasn’t gonna let them steal this, and he knew he would remain on top.
Tim’s trying to act indifferent, Steph huffs in annoyance and Damian clenches any nearby object until it breaks. One of these days he’s going to stab Jason and nobody else would stop him
