Interesting conversation. Not saying I endorse absolutely everything said, but it’s good listening and good food for thought. If you know me at all, you know my inability to walk was cured by his Lyme protocol after doctors told me it was something else that couldn’t be helped, and his books on plants are among my favorites, including The Lost Language of Plants, The Secret Teachings of Plants, and, possibly best of all and certainly most mind-bending and important, Plant Intelligence and the Imaginal Realm. My copy, too, is full of, well, not underlining, but countless post-it-type sticky papers at tops of and all over some pages to help me find important passages. I don’t always agree with everything he says, but the fellow is certainly a genius, the good kind who is humble and allows himself to be used by the world and life for everything’s betterment.

We found that ultimately, for the most damaged people, bonding with wild landscapes was essential. There is an honesty there, a richness, that the neuro-atypical frequently must have for healing.

A few of you thought that I was selling the Serpent Mother mead and I’m sorry to say that I am not. I wish I could share a toast with you all but I’m just a home brewer who likes to experiment with ritual brews. But in lieu of sharing my tipple with you, this is one of my very favorite meads. It’s a bochet, made with caramelized honey and it’s fucking glorious. Toffee, coffee, tobacco, with a little red berry and leather, like the best tawny ports. It’s under $20 a pop and if you see it in the wild, buy a case of it. And if you want to try to make your own ritual meads, you should. It isn’t too hard and fermentation is actual wizardry. Stephen Bunher wrote a fantastic book about ritual brewing titled Sacred and Healing Beers and there’s a very good section on mead. Get it and start making crazy libations to share with your deities.
