I'm still trying my best to be patient about Persona 4 Revival but man...I'm so so excited to find out who the new English voice actors for the Investigation Team are gonna be...
Manifesting AJ Beckles as Yosuke, Stephen Fu as Yu, and Jenny Yokobori as Yukiko...
Probably gonna be wrong on those guesses when the time comes for the new English voice cast to finally be revealed but I'm gonna be happy with whoever we get. Who knows when we'll find out but I'm so excited for the new voice cast.
Modern Atlus dubs have been so good lately. Metaphor: ReFantazio and SMT V Vengeance are awesome, Persona 3 Reload has an awesome voice cast that I ended up really liking, and I know Persona 4 Revival is gonna keep it up.
Lucien Dodge's performance as Akaza was peak, but Stephen Fu's Doma is just incredible
Now, I'm someone who's heavily biased in favor of Lucien Dodge here. He made Felix one of my favorite Fire Emblem Three Houses characters, and so I've been looking forward to the next time Akaza showed up ever since Mugen Train. And he delivered, no question. I was hooked from the start of the fight to the end.
But Doma...I mean, what can I even say? A nihilistic atheist who genuinely seems to believe that death is the cure for the problems of life, and yet he's always happy and friendly in a way that actually seems sincere, even if in a dark, maniacal way. His speech about how there is no afterlife and god isn't real and blah blah standard nihilistic villain stuff(not that you'd ever see such things portrayed as bad in Western media these days) is completely transformed by the way he delivers it-with pity that's as genuine as a murderous demon can be. He may be a cult leader, but he's not misleading his followers, at least not the way he sees it. He truly believes everything he says, and the disgusting evilness of it all is brought home by Stephen Fu's absolutely amazing performance. In a cast stacked with half the industry's greats he blew them all out of the water, to the point where I'm almost more excited for Doma's big fight as I am for Kokushibo's or Muzan's. Stephen Fu's gonna be someone to keep an eye on, I can tell you that much. If the industry recognizes his skills(and it better or I will start a peasant revolt) he's gonna be getting more bigger roles like this, and hopefully with him being cast as Rip in Undead Unluck that's already happening.
