I haven’t posted on here in a while, so here is a clip-video that I recorded of the Jon Young Band last week. Jon Young and I grew up in the same town. I went to school with his younger sister. Jon has been successful performing Americana music around the north Texas region in the local Red Dirt scene. Look his music up on your favorite streaming service—I recommend starting with his sophomore album, Relic, as the opener is still my favorite song of his.
Here are some photos as well:

Do y’all want to help a black owned business? My friend, Jahmicah Dawes opened the first ever black owned outdoor shop in my hometown of Stephenville, TX. The place is magical and the fact that this amazing young man opened this shop on the same town square where not too many years before the KKK rallied, is awesome. I’m posting a link to his gofundme, his store, and a great video about this place. If you can’t donate or make a purchase, please share. We need more Jahmicah’s in the world.

Built in 1939, The Long Hotel in Stephenville, Texas boasted 40 bedrooms, a restaurant and club and an elevator, something almost unheard of in this area at the time, and was the tallest privately-owned building in the city when it was built. After years of use, it has been empty since the late 1970s and its structure is getting worse from desertion. It is currently for sale for $350,000.
It’s…Artifact Friday! Hearken with us back to that day almost 70 years ago when Stephenville and Ballinger faced off under the Friday night lights.
Newfoundland officially joined Canada at midnight on March 31, 1949.
