The Alpha and The Spark

Derek Hale races to find Stiles so they can flee across the country, taking their charges to the only place they know they can keep them safe. Even when Stiles is wanted by the FBI and the resident Alpha is throwing a tantrum. Can they stop an all-out war and how is it the FBI has turned on Stiles? At the end of the day, can Stiles and Derek save everyone and themselves while trying to make a life for themselves together, or will they die trying?

Derek found it in the scrap pile. He hadn’t been looking for anything in particular, just sorting through the junk to see what might be decent if he melted it all down, and there it was. A synthetic. But this one didn’t look like the MXs, with their blank stare and vacant eyes. Its eyes were closed, which just made it look even more disturbingly like a person. A sleeping person, real enough that Derek actually tried to shake it awake before he realized what he was doing.

This was strange. Synthetics weren’t usually junked unless they were so torn up they were basically toaster parts, but this one seemed to be intact. Derek pulled it out, a task that took the better part of the morning, and hauled it back to his workshop to take a look. It was completely intact, and even more surprising, it was a Hale. The small triskelion on the back of its neck just below the hairline was unmistakable, the family insignia a mirror image of the tattoo he had on his back. “Wow. Guess that makes you family - sort of,” he said to the synthetic as he checked it over more carefully.

It's been a hot minute.

I have multiple WIPs and events going on right now (both collaboratively and by myself), but now is the time to get hyped!

One of the events I'm doing is the Sterek Big Bang hosted by @twsterekbigbang. Since there's a little less than a month until posting, I thought I'd advertise a little coming soon sneak peek of my first ever Big Bang fic!

"Confessions of a Teenage Tragedy: Bi-Disaster" will be posted to my AO3 under "one-fandom-became-all-fandoms" soon, with beautiful artwork by @evanesdust and beta'd by @roseszain (with a little brainstorming-beta help from @starwilson, @stuckygarbage and @jcksnwhttmr).

Background: Rated E ; WC ~37K ; Main themes include: No Hale Fire AU, HS AU, Cross-Dressing, Self-Discovery, Mutual Pining, Misunderstandings, Getting Together.

Summary: What started out as a dare turned into the best thing that has ever happened to Stiles. Ever since he dressed as Naughty Red for the last Halloween of his senior year, Stiles has found out his arch-nemesis doesn’t despise him, the Hales are much weirder than anyone in Beacon Hills would believe, and he looks damn good in lace.

Incident after incident with Derek Hale crumbles Stiles’s resolve to keep his freshly-realized feelings hidden. Can he mend their broken friendship before it’s too late or will asking for more from Derek push the basketball captain away forever?

Sneak Preview:

Rasping around the fake fangs in his mouth, Derek Hale demanded, "You need to change."

Stiles balked. Head swiveling in irritation, he questioned, "Why?"

Derek pressed, "I was here first and you look ridiculous."

"Uh," Stiles scoffed, "I look adorable."

"You're a guy," Derek stated.

Putting cups on the counter, Stiles retorted, "Who's rocking this outfit." Searching for cherry vodka, he added, "That's not coming off my body tonight, by the way."

Derek's nonexistent brows furrowed as he watched Stiles splash liquid into red solo cups. "What. You're not going to sleep in it, Stiles."

"I might," he quipped.

A long-suffering sigh fled Derek's lips as he leaned against the counter. Stiles worried his fake nails would leave crescent dents in Derek's palms with the way he clenched them.

Switching tactics, Derek said, "I'll pay you twenty bucks."

A snort. "Erica's paying me fifty to wear it." Adding a dash of grenadine to Erica and Lydia's cups, he smirked, "Gonna have to try a little harder than that, Hale."

His left eye twitched. "A hundred."

"Two hundred," Stiles corrected, "and I won't tell anyone on Monday that you paid me to take off my clothes."

Air passed through Derek's flared nostrils in an agitated rush. "Fine."

“The guy in front of him was gorgeous, dedicated, caring and good. Both of them had a similar problem with caring about others too much and not caring about themselves enough, which meant Derek was also one of the very few people who really understood that side of Stiles. Seeing Derek like this, being able to celebrate his birthday with him, made Stiles want.

He was definitely selfish in this situation, but it was almost out of his control. His body moved out of its own accord as he stepped closer and leaned forward. He had the presence of mind to move slowly, give Derek time to back out, to flinch, to show any sign he didn’t want this, but nothing like that happened. He let Stiles lean the rest of the way until their lips connected.

Where their first kiss, the one initiated by Derek, was urgent and desperate, and worst of all - over very quickly, this one was almost the complete opposite. Stiles was hesitant and unsure, he felt selfish for going for it, but Derek soon responded. He moved closer to Stiles, his hands rising to grab Stiles’ face, and returned the kiss just as slowly and carefully.

They kissed as if they were walking on thin ice, as if one wrong move could throw them into icy depths, yet at the same time they kept up like they couldn’t stop. At some point Stiles raised his own hands to grab Derek’s forearms to ground himself since he could literally feel himself shaking from feeling overwhelmed. He felt Derek’s fingers dig into his cheeks with desperation, in complete contrast with how cautiously his lips moved against Stiles’.

After what felt like an eternity and a millisecond simultaneously, Stiles broke the kiss, moving back just enough to stop their lips from touching. 

“Happy birthday,” he breathed against Derek’s lips before he took a full step back, letting the werewolf’s hands drop from where they were holding him.

He felt Derek’s eyes on him the whole way back to the house.”

Despite having given up on the supernatural a few years back, Stiles dives head first into the life he left behind after high school. Meeting old friends along the way, he tries to solve the case before this creature takes away the one thing Stiles has left: his father.

Embracing the supernatural comes with consequences, and the people of Beacon Hills might be the next victims if Stiles isn’t fast enough. He doesn’t have time for old flames and yet, Derek Hale seems to gravitate towards him as firmly as ever. Once again, Stiles puts his loved ones at risk, and one of them pays the price of his mistake.

More determined than ever, Stiles soon realizes that the events were set in motion long before he came back to Beacon Hills say… when Lydia found the cure to lycanthropy. (more on ao3)

Lydia sighs, leaning forward like she’s about to whisper a secret, but not letting her voice falter. “Stiles, I love you and I respect that you’ve needed time to deal with...you know, I don’t even know what, which is a bit ridiculous as I’m your best friend and--”

“You’re not my best friend,” Stiles singsongs.

“--I still have no idea why you’ve been acting less than thrilled to be back where there is working internet, Playstations and--”

He murmurs, “I don’t even--I use a PC for gaming, Lydia. If you were my best friend you’d--”

“Running tap water--”

“The spring water on the island was delicious.”

She barrels through, “--but instead, you’ve been moping and, Stiles. I didn’t want to bring this up, but your recent vlogs have been terrible.”

“That’s just rude and below the belt and--"

She sits back as the waiter approaches and slides the fresh mimosa in front of Stiles, who immediately brings it to his lips and takes a sip. Make that two sips. Big ones. But not gulps, no.

Hopefully I will have a pornarific E/O Sunday Six as well if I can get out of bed.

He frowns when the warm pillow under his head starts to move. “Ugghhh,” he groans – not whines, he definitely doesn’t whine, no sir-ee. “Oh come on Derek, look what you’ve done.” He feels another growl, this time it was more of a rumble underneath him, but the pillow did in fact stop moving. Slowly, Stiles blinks his eyes open to find his face squished up against black cotton. There was only one person in the pack who religiously wore black like any sort of color could poison them. Derek. He’d fallen asleep on Derek. “Oh my god.” He whisper-shouts. Or, the au where the Hale pack is back together in Beacon Hills for summer break after their freshman year of college and Stiles is hit with a truth spell that makes it impossible for him to shut up (even more than usual). Embarrassing hijinks ensue.
