#137 Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa
I am sure for many people, like me, this film will be their first exposure to the Alan Partridge character, and Steve Coogen does a great job in adapting his character to the big screen. In doing so, he translated this self obsessed, selfish bastard and makes no compromised for him. They let him be exactly who he is and makes the antagonist a sweet person who is really the one to root for. The turn of the head of expectations make for one of the funniest movies of the year thus far. The comedy mostly comes in expense of the main character who is a mean person and that is why it works. David Brent on "The Office" is a lovable jerk because despite his jerkiness, the jokes are made on behalf of him. Plus there is some biting satirical material on corporations which is fitting for a film that is co-written by Armando Iannucci.
