Question(s), if you don't mind. I read that you lost 30 pounds, how'd you do that? Was is mostly by using T? Is there a way to lose weight so fast without it? Do you recommend anything?
I’m about 5′4. When I went on T I went from about 135lbs to about 175lbs over the first 6-8 months. I definitely got some muscle out of the deal, but one side effect of T is that you end up naturally storing more fat, especially at first when you’re hungry constantly but your body hasn’t figured out what to do with all the extra food.
I lost weight (I’m currently at about 140-145lbs) with a website called NerdFitness. When I was really into it (I still am, but not as purposefully), I was losing about 5lbs per month.
Now, I typically hate most workout/fitness sites, but NerdFitness is… hella different. And I have to sing their praises:
Their tagline is “Level Up Your Life” and they mean it. Basically, you create a character, backstory, goals, and a lineup of quests (workouts, diet, adventure, life, etc…) and work through the quests to reach your irl fitness and life goals. It’s not just about weight loss, its about becoming who you want to be in every aspect of your life- want to learn another language? Travel all over the world? Get your butt through nursing school? You can use NerdFitness skills to organize and make it so!
They’re serious about fitness, but they’re also serious about fun and friendship and motivation and teamwork and staying healthy and happy for life. Everyone using NF are “Rebels” and you live according to the Rules of the Rebellion. Really, go read that, it will blow everything you’ve thought about fitness out of the water.
NF has a focus on the Paleo diet (or at least, Paleo principles) and (at least initially) bodyweight workouts, training for real life practical adventure with step-by-step instructions and videos for everyone. The goal is to remove all roadblocks to fitness, particularly ones involving mindset, and the site itself is a heaping pile of motivation resources and nerdy awesome (lots of things like fitness philosophy and workouts are fandom, science, or RPG based). Its kind of a “use what makes you happy to make you healthy and well-rounded” kind of deal.
The site is free (but if you want to give them money, NerdFitness: Academy is an absolutely awesome 1-time investment, and you’re in for life and all updates).
Okay, I’ve said enough, but seriously, go check them out! Steve Kamb (founder and Rebel Leader) is probably one of the coolest people I’ve ever had a two-email conversation with (he emailed me when I had top surgery!).
