Steve Layman, raptor expert, shares the fascinating history of falconry and its symbiotic relationship between man, dog and bird of prey.
Very interesting podcast on hunting with birds of prey and dogs. They talk about the history of falconry, introducing the dog and the bird, and some stories of hunting with his falcons and wirehaired pointers. One line I particularly like, when he was talking about the history, is “Falconry is in our soul.”
Steve Layman wrote a chapter in Rabbit Hawker’s Dogs. If anyone is interested, I can transcribe a bit of it.
