Bonus Feature: This is a picture of my grandson, Theodore. At five months old, he already knows the difference between a real football and a soccer ball. He has made his choice, although it pains his father who was, I am told, quite the “midfielder” back in his day.. This picture was taken last Saturday as Theodore napped while watching college football. (It was not a staged photo). Now, on to…

Living The Life, Such As It Is
I'm watching the Elmira Crokinole A bracket matches while I contemplate a statistic theat describes how "lossy" the final score of a sporting contest is. Think tennis, where a game can be close or not, then a set; we usually talk about matches ending in straight sets, but the final score has very little data onm how hard fought each point was. Such a statistic would be pretty difficult for a game like Crokinole, where the "closeness" of a round is so much more conceptual, or chess, where scoring positions is subjective outside Stockfish.
This is all keeping my mind off of what's going on: weird gestapo shit in the streets, getting laid off and the general feeling of trying to peel the charred splinters of my life out of the fuck off bonfire I've been making of it since Covid isolation, or even before, if I'm going to be honest. How bad is it? Don't worry about it, I maintain.
I've been drawing a lot, thinking about visual storytelling, studying CS and stats and Mandarin. Then there's the old standbys of videogames and weightlifting and eating things that are bad for me. Life is tough, but it's also good. It's too good to be by far.

Sometimes the challenge is just the list of topics and the idea is you’ll spend thirty days writing about your great love of, I dunno, horses or whatever. This post marks five hundred days straight of blogging, without missing a day. Nobody ever…
