This is someone named Lindsay Lavin singing "Waiting for Life" from Once on This Island.
I really like this song, but I will admit I was much more intrigued when I thought this was going to be Linda Lavin singing this song.
Counting The Omer with Showtunes Day 37: “The One-Feathered Tail of Miss Gertrude McFuzz” from Seussical: The Musical. "Love song for Horton number One Hundred and Thirty-Seven."
I saw Seussical pretty late in its Broadway run, when Aaron Carter & Cathy Rigby were starring and the cast all knew full well what a stinker they were in. I don't think I've ever had a more depressing afternoon in a theatre. The show was bad, sure, but I've seen plenty of bad shows. It was the air of resignation palpable from the cast that was unforgettable and uncomfortable, as though they were trying to apologize to the audience for making us sit through this, even as they performed it.
I knew someone in the cast, so I had to stay to the end and see her backstage. (Otherwise, I'm pretty sure I would have left at intermission, something I've never done at a professional show.) Our chat was a masterclass in deflecting talk about the show she had just performed, and I remain grateful that she didn't go there. (Although I can truthfully say that this performer's part was a highlight.)
There was a video on YouTube of Janine Lamanna's closing night performance of this song, but it omitted the first line -- the one that actually contains the words "thirty seven," so I opted for this really sweet children's theater rendition instead.
