So I watched Steven’s Dream...

Recently I started watching the new Stevenbomb episodes that CN released early and… I got some thoughts on a certain scene… Obvious spoilers, so be warned:

During “Steven’s Dream”, Steven starts having a weird dream that is making him cry a literal river without even feeling sad, so after some intense moments of talking with the Gems, him and Greg wind up in Japan to find the place where the dream happens… Wich then leads to this moment:

Greg finds himself having a heart to heart with a very sorrowful and very grief-stricken Blue Diamond… I don’t know why but… To me this was easily the most heartfelt moment in the entire show so far, it is also the very first time we hear Greg describing how he feels without Rose, we get shades of this all the time in his body languaje and the way he speaks when he describes her but… This is the first time he fully explains his grief to someone else…

This scene also hits me because here we have two completely different creatures, having a very common ground, understanding each other through their own grief for those they have lost, for that brief conversation… I completely forgot she’s part of the matriarchy that leads a galaxy wide empire, and he’s a middle aged man who was just traveling with his son.

Even her kindapping of Greg can be seen as a heartwarming gesture… As messed up as that was, because in her eyes, she is saving this one human from death, getting him to have some solace at the human zoo, giving him some peace in life as gratitude for being the one creature that was there for her, because as we see some episodes later… She’s not getting any of that in homeworld, at least not from Yellow Diamond…
