I still can't get over how they interacted with each other. I felt SO fed. "Nobody gets me fired up quite like you!" and "You always bring out the best in me!" fuel it. After such a long time of not seeing her, Sonic is so excited to compete with her that he doesn't even care if they're racing against each other. He just wants to run alongside her and have fun! And Blaze pretty much declares her profound feelings for Sonic here because of how much he changed her for the better, and because of the overall importance of his impact on her life when they met.
