freshly molted baby bugs often look like raw dough shaped into different ridiculous forms, but others are simply good at mimicking dry plants. this penultimate Stictopleurus nymph is the latter, and i dread to think how much paler it could be if it was also the former. go white boy go

This might be a challenge — can I have a species id on these (I think) leaf-footed bugs? They're about 7mm long, location is Idaho

It's a true bug and related to leaf-footed bugs, but it looks more like a scentless plant bug in the family Rhopalidae to me. Mayyyybe Stictopleurus sp.?

although they can look plain in a vacuum, some Stictopleurus individuals, especially with their sweet yarrow host plant for a background, look like either a special premium golden bug you can sell for a ton of money or maybe honey flavored cereal. i think this one was ovipositing but stopped when i came close, although i still got a shot of it stuck halfway looking baffled
