“Here.”
Harper held out a small flower, no bigger than the size of her palm, the stem shaped in to a circle so it resembled a sort of ring.
“It won’t last long,” she warned, placing the one she’d made for herself on her pinky since the flower she’d chosen was a bit smaller than his. “But’s it’s still pretty. It’s nice to have it then to not have it at all.”
With the change in the season, Harper opted to spend most of her time outside before it got too cold. It was still comfortable enough if she sat in the sun with a big sweater without getting chilly. It also helped having Daniel so close to block the wind should a gust have come through. One breeze started, moving the grass and flowers they were sitting in, and Harper caught a glimpse of a different colored flower; a pretty purple one with yellow in the middle right on the other side of him. She crawled across his lap to get to it, plucking it out of the ground and a few other different colored flowers to bundle together in a small bouquet. A blade of grass tied it together.
She was having fun, much preferring little moments like this as opposed to more formal dates where little was said. It seemed like other couples had the same idea, the pair amongst others that had brought blankets and meals with them and all enjoying the same atmosphere. Harper was glad he’d invited her out even if they were still getting to know each other.
“Isn’t it colorful?” she asked, showing off the little bouquet she’d made.
