Cameron looks around but everything looked the same. Tall grass, stalks of corn everywhere, and the end of the maze nowhere in sight. “So I think we may have already passed this way before…”

Alex nods as he looks around the maze again as he answers, “We’ve definitely passed this way before.” There’s a spell that is supposedly meant to help people not get lost that the warlock is thinking of using, but getting lost was all part of the fun. “If we go back the way we came from, I think the other path might be the way out.”

“i bought two tickets to go on the ferris wheel, but i got stood up so.” yejin paused, hoping she didn’t sound too bitter. “do you want to go with me? i promise it could be a fun experience.” 

alex offered a sympathetic smile when he heard that yejin had been stood up for the ferris wheel. a smile that brightened when she asked if he wanted to go with her since that was one of his favorite festival attractions. “i would love to,” the warlock accepted the offer and held a hand out.

“ truth be told, i’m not sure if it will ever happen, nor do i expect any alpha to jump at the opportunity to become an exotic dancer at vinny’s, but it’s a matter or principals — excluding specific secondary genders from any job is gross and sexist, and shouldn’t be allowed, period. ” the younger omega points out, letting out a huff. “ sorry, i’m just so heated over this. it’s so tiresome to keep getting underestimated, or even worse, discriminated against because you’re an omega. i know certain members of the medical staff at the hospital would love to see me go, because they don’t think omegas have what it takes to become a doctor, and it’s the same story with the pack council.” silver slumps his shoulders, emitting a heavy sigh. “ well… i actually arranged for our first date to be at junie’s. we’re going to bake together, cinnamon rolls for the bakesale fundraider…” a mischievous glint sparkles in his eyes as he tells alex about his plan. “ i can’t think of anything he’d hate more, honestly. all this asshole ever does in the board room is trying to stop any funding from going to junie’s. ” 

"exactly,” alex agrees. “and to make sure that doesn’t happen - at the local or national levels - there needs to be enough noise and demand for chance.” it was part of why the omega right’s movement existed, after all. he gives silver an encouraging look as he says, “there’s no need to apologize. it can be fucking tiring to be an omega in this day and age, but there is no feeling like the satisfaction that comes when you blow all those negative bastards away with what you’re capable of. keep doing what you’re doing and i’ll keep listening whenever you need to air your grievances.” the look on alex’s face takes on a similarly mischievous look as silver tells him what he has in mind for the first date. “that is a brilliant idea! silver, your mind is incredible!” he compliments the other omega. his eyes narrow when he hears that the asshole tries to stop any funding from going to junie’s, sour notes of his scent entering the air. “what’s his name? i would love to give this fucker an earful sometime.”

       jungwoo returns the hug that his friend offers, pressing as close as he can and releasing him moments later. listening to his friend, he teases lightly as he gestures towards the entry, “he better be otherwise i’ll make sure he suffers a fate worse than death if he hurts you. got that?” the omega is severely protective of his friends and loved ones - willing to do whatever it takes to ‘avenge’ them so to speak.

alex confirms with a chuckle, “i’ve got that.” he makes a start for the door after leaving a quick tip on the table, turning to face jungwoo once his hand is to push it open. “make sure liam knows that i’ll do the same thing if he hurts you.” the safety and happiness of the wolves in his life are of the utmost importance to the counselor who will never hesitate to give a would be wrongdoer hell by way of chewing them out or bringing them to their senses in whatever fashion was deemed appropriate.

iris bursts into the counselor’s office with a smile and some sequins. there’s bad news to share and the least she can do is give the omega a vision of beauty. “alex, darling. you’re glowing! it’s so good to see you again. how are you?”   @newintcwn​ 

alex is in the middle of straightening up his desk and filing various things away when iris comes in. “iris! so good to see you again!” a grin lights up the counselor’s face while he opens his arms for a hug. “doing well, thank you! just cleaning this up.” he finishes as he speaks and puts the box of tea that a resident gave him in his mini-pantry. “what brings you by?”

“as someone that has seen omega’s kick some serious ass, i know that.” conner smiled. “however, there are still plenty of wolves out there that don’t. and yeah, part of me is worried that if some of them know that i’ve got omegas as security guards at the club that something will happen. more fights…” that’s not what the club needed. and at least he was willing to let it slide for the bartending. if his brother was still here, none of that would be happening. and now, conner’s more worried about if he ever comes back. how would the alpha react to know that his club is allowing alpha’s to dance and omega’s to bartend. poor guy would probably have a heart attack if he came back to omega’s being able to be security guards. conner laughed, glancing over at alex. “you would be, wouldn’t you? one of the many things i love about you.”

alex understands that concern since the last thing he wants is anyone getting hurt by narrow-minded bigots, fellow omegas especially. not to mention the fact that this is a lot of change to be making in a short amount of time. he slowly nods while he mulls everything over, deciding to let it drop for now. “like i said, this is a great place to start,” alex remarks with a light smile. “and who says that the omega bodyguards thing can’t be revisited? especially once more wolves realize that they are equally capable of kicking ass.” a smirk appears while conner laughs and he confirms with a laugh of his own, “you know it.” alex shifts to set everything down on the nearby table while he inches closer to his partner. “you should also know that amazing mind of yours is one of the many things i love about you.”

conner’s gaze steadies on the other. trying to debate if the other’s okay enough to be making such a big decision. “i certainly would be honored to take your last name. however, i’d feel even better about that decision when you ask me when your heat is over. does that sound okay?” conner questioned with a tilt to his head.

"perfect,” alex answers simply in the same affectionate manner. rationally, he knows that now is not the best time to be discussing such important things. but logical thinking just has a way of flying out the window during heats. he lifts himself up just a bit so he can hopefully connect his lips with conner’s, smiling as he does so. “i love you, conner,” alex whispers while his forehead lightly touches the beta’s.

       “so soon? you barely just got here, alex,” the other remarks in a playful tone, slowly standing up from his spot and taking a moment to balance himself. looking around the coffee shop, he really should think about renovating it to fit the slowly evolving world around them, and then focuses his attention back to alexander. “but if you must, i’ll let you go. we’re going to have to plan a double date sometime between us four - i need to meet conner officially before i sign off on him.”

alex chuckles fondly at the remark and goes to bring jungwoo in for a hug. “a double date sounds great,” he agrees. “let’s mention it to them then put our heads together, figure out a time that works for all of us.” there’s a laid-back air about alex now, traces of a once sour scent are easily being replaced by sweeter hints of blueberries thanks to his eased concerns. then the excitement that was coming from a chance to spend time with packmates and show off his partner make it all the more pleasant. in the same bright tone of voice, alex says, “conner’s amazing, i promise.”

“second thought — let’s walk back from the trailer pitch. lot of money to sink into something that might not fly with the board,” bodhi notes, pushing up his glasses with a flick of a wrist and a knuckle. “sounds good, uh . ., . alex. right, alex. counselor alex.” memory, memory. bodhi’s got this. with a grin, he reaches a fist across the table, “looking forward to working with you. you’ll hear from me in a day? two? yeah.” flops open a cracked leather wallet and throws down two crinkled fives, “we’ll get this thing rolling and some good press your way. power to the people, mic for the voices.”

alex hums slightly in agreement while he gives bodhi an easygoing smile and reaches forward to connect their fists. “looking forward to working with you too. i’ll be sure to keep my pager close by whenever there isn’t a phone within reach.” he shakes his head when bodhi tosses down the fives as he reassures, “you don’t have to pay me. the coffee is something i do fo everyone or give them tea if they would rather have that.” the head shake swiftly turns into a nod while his smile brightens with enthusiasm. “power to the people, mic for the voices,” alex repeats.

“ thanks, i also happen to think it’s rather brilliant — if alphas feel like there is no harm in sexualizing us, then the least we can do is give them the same type of treatment. who knows, it might give them a lightbulb moment about their gross behavior,” he points out with a scoffing laugh, knowing the latter would be very unlikely. “ oh, you don’t have to credit me, but yeah, as long as he gets the message,” the smaller shrugs. “ speaking of piece of shit alphas… my mother is setting me up with yet another potential mate, so if you have any ideas on how to make his life miserable and send him running for the hills, i’m all ears.” 

“it is a brilliant idea,” alex agrees. “even if they don’t have the lightbulb moment now, who says that an alpha won’t have one in the future?” he realizes that it’s wishful thinking, but a reasonable bit of hope never hurt anyone. the smile on his face turns soft as he promises, “i’m going to credit you and i will make sure that he gets the message. because it’s an excellent improvement.” at the mention of another potential mate, the look on alex’s face is purely sympathetic following the eye roll he gives. “be as obnoxious as possible is one option. figure out the things that he hates beforehand if you can and subtly work them in. third is recruit a friend to page you constantly throughout the meet up. i’m more than happy to lend my services.”

       “i found out the gender of the pup the other day–we’re having a little girl,” jungwoo says, a small happy smile appearing on his lips and feeling his heart flutter in excitement. “liam was with me at the appointment so he already knows. riley is the second and you’re the fifth person i’ve told–three and four being my mom and sister.”

“congratulations to you both,” alex says with a bright grin as the news sinks in. “i’ve got a feeling that you two are going to be great parents.” he allows his mind the chance to wander, even though he’ll be happy no matter what. but first, there’s plenty of waiting to be done and he needs to tell conner about their own pup. alex pushes himself up from his seat while he asks, “what do you say? quick hug before i go?”

       jungwoo replies with a nod of his head, “oh, i can get on board with playdates - it’ll give the pups bonding time and us two can catch up,” and continues rubbing his stomach as a hum leaves his lips. he is thankful that today is not that busy and that he has capable workers that know how to handle themselves. “how do you think conner is going to take the news?”

alex gives a nod of his own as he agrees, “perfect.” he turns his pen over in his hands a few times while he mulls over jungwoo’s question. “we did talk about it when i was in heat, so i have to imagine that it will at least be a surprise with how suddenly this is happening. but he may be equally as excited. i know i am.” the pen gets turned over a few more times while alex takes the time to picture all of the possible reactions. “only way i’ll know for sure is going down there and telling him.”

   conner glances at alex with a shrug. “as fun as being the fun uncles sound, us having our own pups sounds amazing.” he responded, eyes lighting up. “although, i’m afraid they’d have to take your last name. i don’t know if anyone in this town could handle more russo pups.” conner chuckled. let alone he didn’t want any pups they could have to be judged based on their last name.

alex chuckled when conner said that their pups would have to take his last name followed by a nod of agreement. it was an enticing thought, starting a family with the beta. alex simply couldn’t see himself doing that with anyone else. the old apprehensive thoughts were still present, the classic worries of first time parents that could hopefully be assuaged as time went on and they prepared for parenthood. “they can carry the richards name.” he goes quiet for a moment then continues, “you could too, if you wanted.”

conner smiles, squeezing the omega’s hand gently. “oh.” he frowns. “i… if there are any alpha’s interested in performing i suppose i could make it so that they can. and omega’s getting the option to bartender would be a great idea too. i’m not sure on the whole security guard thing. i’d end up being the town joke and i’m not sure i want to take that away from Mr. Harper.”

“i understand, but i’ve known omegas who have walked away victorious from a fight before.” but alex will happily take these two victories for now. the omega security guards can always come later. “and i have my doubts about you or the club ending up as the town joke. maybe this can be three for three after a little bit more time, but these are great first steps.” he squeezes conner’s hand in return as he promises, “if you did become the town joke, i would be right there with no shortage of sass for the offending parties.”

       as alexander talked, there were a few key symptoms that stuck out to him and he asks with a small smile towards alexander, “well, congratulations–when did you find out?” absently rubbing his own belly, happy that he’s not going through this by himself and is 90% sure that he knows who the father is. “conner’s, right? does he know?” 

“thank you and i found out yesterday afternoon.” alex nods in confirmation in regards to conner being the pup’s father which is swiftly followed by a slight shake of the head. “he doesn’t know yet, no. but that’s actually where i’m going next before heading to the house.” having a course of action helps soothe some nerves yet a few concerns still linger even as alex’s light smile returns. “think some playdate arrangement will be in order once the pups are old enough.”

jovi toys with a platinum bracelet on his wrist, eyes down, “only give advice to omegas? what kind of advice do they need from you? thought everything was cool now after all those rights marches and stuff.” his brow creases and thinks back to any ounce of history classes that’ve managed to stick with him. through the booze and binges, there’s not a lot. “omegas have it kind of easy, don’t they? pretty scents and pretty faces, everyone flailing to make them happy.”  omegas like winter were living the life. vesper, too. they haven’t complained more than the average. 

alex answers, “not just omegas. anybody who is looking for all sorts of advice is more than free to come into my office.” he’s done the best he can to make it an open, safe space where people can come relax or vent. whatever they need most at the current time. there’s a slight shake of his head in response while he elaborates, “there has been some progress made after the rights marches, but there is still a decent amount of work to be done. and there are certainly omegas who are living healthy, happy lives out there. there are just as many who are being abused.” as alex speaks, anger is quick to enter his tone and turn the scent of blueberries sour for the topic never fails to piss him off.
