Some details from my art for Earth Is Baked by @mybrainismelted!
My entire process under the cut:
I already had an idea in mind when I read the fic summary during claims. I wanted to do some kind of vintage horror movie poster. I'm glad my author was onboard with it!
My initial draft had credits on it like a movie poster, as well as a battalion of monsters on top that I planned to make into silhouettes. It looked funny so I had to change it.
The monster battalion was scrapped after several unsuccessful attempts. Meanwhile a scene where Ian and Mickey horny asses were going at it while on the lookout stuck with me so I wanted to put it somewhere in the art. I was locked in doing the lineart but still had art block. I also started coloring but absolutely hated it so I had to start over.
I was cutting it very close to the deadline and was thinking of scrapping the entire thing for an entirely different concept (the author doesn't know this lol). But I decided to just stick it out and finish what I started. I had a big brain idea of drawing angry eyes in the darkness to represent the monsters. I also wanted to draw a bloody, injured Ian so I put it in. Lastly, I redrew Ian on top because apparently he was wearing army fatigues during the scene. The final lineart:
I still don't know why I did all that detailed lineart just to paint over it. Here's the finished piece!
I can't wait for some part in the future where one of the z-team members (Probably Flambae) is talking shit about Mecha Man and Robert's just there like "uh-huh"
We kinda saw that in some episode 2 dialogue with him mentioning the bar fight but I mean something that REALLY adds to the reveal yk always excited for that
Carlos and Jannik walking on the practice courts together, Carlos barely looking where he's going to listen to (and look at) Jannik yapping.

Me and my friends sat outside today at break because it was sunny. It was nice, everyone was in visibly hight spirits because of the unexpected sunlight we've been treated to this week. I couldn't help but share that excitement too. The moment felt like something out of a coming-of-age novel truly, something that should be internally encapsulated in time.
But undercurrent in the back of my mind, is the knowledge that it shouldn't be sunny at this time of year. It never happened. Last year around March it snowed. For reference I live in England, where it is renownedly, always cold. It shouldn't be sunny. But it is. And while I enjoy the light, I know the reason why it's here is sure to doom us all
