~Who is this irresistible creature who has an insatiable love for the dead?~
Falsesymmetry. You agree. Reblog
Did you guys know complimenting people is free and leaves you in a state of euphoria btw
Okay so i have a headcanon that people who use mobility aids [Scar first and foremost, but also like, Cleo and Doc do on occasion methinks - and then post-life game depending on how someone died they might need a cane or something while they recovered bc a life game respawn is. Different] have to build the mobility aids on every server - so anytime a new season starts up step 1 is to get Scar a can to help him out by this point. And in third life that holds true! But. Well. Then third life happens and scar runs off on his own in last life so he has to make his OWN cane -
Or in double life, when grian is desperately trying to get Scar to realize theyre soulmates, he makes a rudimentary cane for Scar cause no one else has and hes clearly struggling with the terrain
Or liml, when its cleo and bdubs who make it but they make it differently than Grian does and sure cleo also uses one, but not as consistently as scar, and for a different purpose than him so her can needs are different and he ends up having to fiddle and just make his own anyway [because its not how grian would make it]
Dont think about cleo not bothering to make herself a cane for any of the life game and then by the time she needs one its too late in the game for her to hobble around so she has to *rely* on someone else and thats a whole thing and hhhhhhh
Or grian coming back from dl and he needs not only a cane but hes suffering from a bad-but-temporary case of tinnitus and cant get out of bed and no one sees him for a few days until scar comes over to talk bc holy shit dl and finds Grian in need of help
Anyway im normal
I just think everyone should be aware a Mafia AU incident Has hit the vault and im LOSING my mind
I'm about to get real sappy fair warning. Sappiness ahead.
Anyway I just. Love. How often and WELL disabilities are protrayed in mcyt fanwork, especially Hermitcraft stuff. Like, for example, I normally hate superheroes because of how often the genre bulldozes out a character's disability by giving them powers. In fact I hesistated on interacting with superhero stuff in Hermitcraft for a long time because of the fact that it happens SO often in superhero movies and shows and stories and then usually hc superhero stuff involved Scar being hotguy, at least for right now - but. The way its done in fanwork here is excellent. GIHASM? One of my top ten HC fics. Kitsuneisi's Superhero Story? Absolutely incredible. Neither shy away from the fact that Scar is disabled. His disabilities become a part of his story instead.
Even outside of that, Scar's disabilities are embraced, sometimes turned to represent other forms of disabilities even. Sometimes he's wheelchair bound. Sometimes he uses a cane. Maybe he just has a limp, or something else going on - but. More often than not he's still disabled which is incredible to me. Everyone is so willing to incredible, research, and even extrapolate on disabilities in fanwork here.
And even outside of Scar! Disability headcanons are endless, disabled characters are everywhere in MCYT - Doc's prosthetics, Iskall's prosthetic eye, Ren's prosthetics from s8. The Life Series giving characters permanent disabilities. The Hels to Pay AU by lunarcrown and aquaquadrant, where Tango is recovering from torture in a way that reads, to me at least, as a metaphor for recovering from a temporary disability - it's everywhere. And it's wonderful.
This is not the first time I've said this but getting into Hermitcraft fanwork is the first time I've ever seen disability rep be everywhere. People are so willing to research how canes and wheelchairs work, or they're otherwise seeing themselves in characters and projecting that into their fanwork here - I've never been in a fandom before where people were so willing to see a character use a cane. ESPECIALLY one where people understand that disabilities are a spectrum, a range, of different attributes, and whats true for a character one day may not be true the next. Like, in Rift AU, Scar doesn't always need a cane, and no one bats an eye at this. I've been in fandom spaces before where even just having a character use a cane was frowned upon so this is just...huge for me.
Anyway this is all to say that I love seeing all the disability rep. Admittedly, I'm mostly into Hermitcraft and the life series, but I see it in other SMPs too - headcanons for characters from empires and dsmp and even Rats! That's just incredible to me. So, you know, from the bottom of my heart thank you for finally letting me see myself in a character in a way I haven't gotten to before.
