Frickin' hectic day. Getting psyched for year end on Monday. It's a nightmare. Looking forward to my Thursday night drinking sesh with da boyz. Two and a half hours and counting.
On Monday I was like ‘oh yeah I love my job’ and then every single thing went wrong I’m never saying anything nice about it again
It's not December
It's not December I repeat, relationship stock take should be done periodically and not only at the end of the year. How are you adding value to the people in your own life? Where are you being taken for granted? Where have you left your dignity on the...
What value do you place on it?
No, it’s not December but it is time to take stock and determine what needs keeping and what goes in the bin. Not all relationships are beneficial and not all relationships are toxic. There are some people in your life who are taking up space when they should not be in your life in the first place. There are places in other people’s life where you are taking up…

Just taking a second to appreciate the fact that I’ve moved from a room that could barely fit two single beds in it, to a room that could fit 4 double beds easily. I’ve just played Overwatch on my own tv without having to use headphones and set the heating to come on in the morning before I get up. I spent Saturday with @gogogargar building furniture to make our livingroom look pretty af and tomorrow I plan on finding a new energy provider and looking at getting some groceries delivered.

Lately I’ve been so caught up in my studies, the everyday running of my business and my newly established relationship that I feel like I haven’t really sat down and identified where I’m at.
While it’s perfectly acceptable (and beneficial) to assess how you’re performing at university, to employ the use of KPI’s for your business and to discuss your relationship with your partner - assessing ourselves, our performance and our goals as an individual human being can be incredibly daunting.
So here goes.
It’s the end of the financial year and I guess you could call this me “taking stock” of everything that’s happened this year and planning for the future.
What I’ve achieved:
1. I have an amazing girl in my life that I’m lucky enough to call my girlfriend
2. I’ve started building my wealth (the Barefoot way!) and now have a relatively small but substantial sum in my savings account
3. I started my own business this year and have now expanded my client-base to 5 states, employed the use of a wonderful booking assistant and have been successfully building my brand ever since
4. I got private health insurance this year!
5. I’ve slowly but surely been adding a small sum to my long-term investment account
6. I’m still at university, and while my grades and attendance may not have been the best this past semester - I’m fairly sure I didn’t bomb the end of semester exams that bad
7. I rent my own apartment in the CBD, super convenient location where I can walk pretty much everywhere I need to be
What I’m looking forward to in the next 6 months:
1. Travelling overseas with my girlfriend and going on some big adventures together :)
2. Maintaining and continuing to build my wealth, The Barefoot Way!
3. Further expansion of client-base, new marketing strategies and website for my business
4. Before the end of the year purchasing 5K worth of AFIC shares for long-term investment
5. Better attendance and performance at uni - not skipping class for invalid reasons!
6. Moving out of the apartment at the end of the year and (fingers crossed) moving into my very OWN apartment that I’ve bought myself
7. Becoming a healthier version of myself: reducing the amount I smoke, going to the gym regularly, eating clean and losing approximately 10kg by November
Stock Take And Inventory
Current Stock
Giant’s Toe x1 (ingrown nail still intact, albeit beginning to look fungal. Possibility of future ‘Mammoth Cheese’ stocks without risking being caught downwind on an explosive mammoth.)
Bucket x2 (the trend for bucket hats apparently continues. Less popular is the use of buckets for their intended purpose, which is truly no surprise to anyone who has ever met a Nord.)
Elves Ear bushels x25 (the locals continue to believe these to be actual ears of elves. The Khajiit caravan was uninterested in any purchase or exchange. Damn cats. More than happy to take any mouldy tomato of a questionable source, but show them an entirely honest and mostly fresh selection of quality alchemical reagents and they become all indigninant. One can practically see the hairballs forming. At least I managed to offload some of the herbs to those would-be cave divers. I am sure the Falmer are rather fond of the tase of both elves’ ears and Elves’ Ear.)
Banded Iron Shield x1 (sold by a local farmer. Claimed it belonged to her late husband, whom had fancied himself a mercenary. Shield was apparently returned to her along with other effects after his unfortunate demise. Judging by the large dint in the center of the shield, one suspects his demise was less unfortunate and more to do with making the mistake of trying to get up close and personal with a Minotaur. The wife was wearing some very fetching ivory earrings as well, but was rather more attached to these than she was the shield.)
Eldar Cheese Wheel x5 (sealed in wax. Market to Nords as possessing fire resistance qualities.)
Colovian Brandy x3 (not on display. None of the rabble who come through the door would appreciate such a fine vintage. Alas, I suppose I must make it available on request should some passing adventurer with a hankering for a drink of quality ask after my stocks. More’s the pity. One so often finds a large serving of brandy is all that can get one through a day spent behind a shop counter.)
Ebony arrows x34 (personal stock. Now acquainted with several of the passers-by in town.)
Elven arrows x52 (personal stock. Less acquainted with the locals.)
1 wooden carving of Baan Dar sodomising Y’ffre most vigorously (apparently my contact in the College was able to find a matching piece to that I sent southwards. Tis not half as fun without my mother-in-law to see it pride of place atop the countertop. Still, it brings me great pleasure to imagine smashing the penetrated wooden arse of her most beloved god repeatedly into her face. The locals seem less amused by its’ presence, however.)
Noble Clothing x 2 (the definition of noble truly has taken a nosedive here in this frozen piss-stain of a country. In fact, a frozen piss-stain could only be an improvement upon these rags.)
Farmer’s Tunic x4 (my previous assessment of the chances of farming in this frozen bog pit was clearly accurate. That, or the Nordic farmers are of an even more stupid ken than their city brethren and are yet to learn of the existence of clothing. I suspect they would feel completely at home in the much warmer climates of Black March and Elsewyr as well.)
Potion of Invisibility x3 (previously 4, until the mishap with the boy. How he got himself up onto the spire of Dragonsreach, I do not know.)
4x Old-Clear Eyed Whiskey (locals seemingly developing a taste for the beverage, with several return customers. Have sold two dozen this week alone. Note: new arrangement reached with the stablemaster proving profitable.)
The Art of War Magic (book) x 1 (unsurprisingly, little interest from the locals. Some inquiries as to why I had bothered to bind my wiping material so tightly. Inbred cow-turds.)
Azura and the Box (book) x2 (have received an inquiry from a supposed Dwemer expert from Markarth as to the possibility of purchasing the books. This raises two points. The first being that the ill-educated and ever-grunting world of Men has clearly reached a new depth in their quest for stupidity if their scholars would consult fiction for their research. And the second, more pressing issue - how the fuck did some wizard from far off Markarth find out that I had in my possession anything that even remotely was connected to the Dwemer? The courier simply arrived at the door bearing a note addressed to me by name. Most curious.)
Iron Lock x7 (personal stock. To be installed on ever exterior door and window. Damn wizards.)
Potion of Cure Disease x7 (the boy no longer requires his regular doses. His health has much improved since replacing the straw in his bedding and allowing him a blanket. He still chooses to sleep atop the blanket, fully clothed and without even a hint of a wash, but tis progress of a kind.)
Outstanding Orders
Vampire Dust x2 (for the hagraven, still. Previous acquisition efforts clearly flawed.Sent flowers to the families. Have reached out to the Companions.)
Circlet of Moonstone and Ruby x1 (private commision from the Jarl’s senschal, for the upcoming birthday celebration of the Jarl’s wife. In truth, it seems a tad over the top for my tastes. Not only are rubies not the right colour for her complexion, one cannot escape that putting a dress and a fancy circlet on a Sload does not make it an attractive prospect. For my part, I intend to send Her Grace a cracked mirror and a bar of Sload Soap, imported especially from Thras.)
Daedra Heart x3 (though why the local inkeep requires Daedra Hearts is beyond me. Note: avoid the stew in future.)
Fire Salts x1 (for the soon-to-be-wed head of a prominent local family, who took great pride in telling me his plans for heating his marital bed before taking his new, much young, gold-digging wife in such a fashion as to make Baan Dar blush. I was almost impressed at his thinking. I do hope he escapes when the subsequent blaze erupts throughout his home. Or perhaps not. I am not sure my eyes are quite ready for the sight of quite so wrinkled a worm.)
Orcish Battleaxe x1 (the captain of the guard apparently desires an upgrade to his personal armory. I personally would have suggested some boots that fit and a sword he might actually be able to swing without falling over, but he had his heart set on a battleaxe. I suspect he will feel some kinship with it’s makers once it arrives.)
Other Notes
Rumours abound that a drug-addled Argonian caused chaos in town not long ago. Apparently, the reptile in quest defecated in the well, was violently ill across the doorway to the tavern, tried to climb the Gildergreen, was seen trying to mate with a tombstone, and at one point challenged three guardsmen to a duel using just a chicken bone and the promise that she’d feed them their own kidneys. I cannot say I was overly surprised to later hear she was seen being carried back to her chambers by my earlier cat and slaver visitors.
The preparations for the birthday celebration of the Jarl’s wife are in the full swing. His mistress, his lover, his wife and his toyboy are all swanning around town ordering that the event be grander, more vibrant and more opulent. In Skyrim, this apparently translates to involve more threadbare streamers choking the streets, more chickens mercilessly rounded up and garbed with bells, more empty bottles littering the streets, and more instances of so-called entertainers dying on their arses as they ply their trade to the street. To be fair, I was rather enamored with the fire-breathing Imga that the Bosmer acrobats brought with them, and the Redguard belly dancer was really rather talented. Less so the Orcish performance poet, the Dunmer comedian, Imperial dance troupe and Nordic impressionists.
Still snowing. I fear I may never be warm again. Only the thought of my dearest Charrus shell keeps me warm, gazing upon his visage as my daggers clunk melodiously into the picture of his face.

Current Stock
Mammoth Pelt x3 (mammoth mostly removed)
Giant’s Toe x 2 (from alternative feet. Nail intact and apparently ingrowing. Who knew giants could bend so far as to bite their toenails?)
Haystacks x25 (plus 4 being used by the hired help as bedding. I must speak to that boy about the definition of theft.)
Potion of Cure Disease x 7 (only sold 2 this week. Local Temple begun offering free healing services. Retaliated appropriately - rumours now circulating about the head priest being a hagraven in disguise. Had to be believable.)
Potion of Frost Resistance x 2 (own recipe. Tested on the help. Mostly safe. Note: retain a cure disease potion for the boy in case the boils return.)
Bucket x 9 (sold 3 this week to the locals. As hats. I can’t even claim to be surprised.)
Axe x 4 (have not sold any in the last two weeks. Unsurprising - the locals are wed more to their blunt objects then they are they wives. Consider rebranding as an Orcish eating tool and marketing to the Jarl.)
Hunting Bow x 2 (though I use the term bow lightly)
Arrows (Iron) x 63 (given the quality of Nordic smithing, these are more apt to be called twigs. Locals seem to believe arrows are weightless. Have been encouraging this delusion.)
Arrows (steel) x23 (woo, magical weightless steel....)
Arrows (orcish) x2 (2. 2 pissing orcish arrows. If that adventurer hadn’t had the misfortune to be an argonian already, I would have thrown her out by the scales of her tale. Alas, I am too nice and took pity on the overgrown worm woman.)
Arrows (elvish) x 52 (Personal stock.)
Old Clear-Eye Whiskey x 3 (well, 3 empty bottles of Whiskey, refilled with a similar coloured liquid. The locals seem to prefer it. Go figure. Note to self: pay the stablemaster next Loredas.)
Lillandril Tonic-Tea x4 (still not funny.)
Steel Greatsword x2 (notice how the Nords don’t believe these are weightless.)
Elves Ear bushels x 37 (a bad purchase. The locals seem to believe these are actual elf ears, and refuse to even look at them. Were we back in Valenwood, I would perhaps understand, but not. This is the frozen armpit of the world. Where the locals prefer to shut their dead up to walk around together rather than devour the rotting cadaver. May have to hold my nose and sell these to the khajit next time the caravan comes around.)
Nord High Gauntlets x1 (a single gauntlet. I swear, if I wasn’t such a people person, some of these idiotic adventurers...)
Rusty Helmet x 1 (appears to have taken a hammer blow to the head. Perhaps this is really an ancient relic uncovered from the tomb of the very first Man to exist? Would explain a lot. Consider using as marketing strategy.)
Farmers Tunic x 4 (farm, in this frozen bog pit? I’d rather swim naked with my mother in law. Speaking of which...)
Roll of wiping material x 3 (she truly is so kind to keep supplying me with goods to sell.)
Snowberry bunch x5 (the boy keeps stealing berries from the vine when he thinks I am not looking. I have taken to displaying miseltoe berries instead. That’ll teach him. Little shit. Though hopefully not on my floor. Note: Invent in several good, clean mops.)
Dried horker meat x 3 (and the locals eat this stuff? It smells like it has come out the rear end of a Khajit. Sell quickly, before it infests the shop.)
Scroll of Mayhem x 1 (NOT to be sold as wiping material. May keep back for personal use on a rainy day. Snowy day. Whatever.)
Outstanding Orders
Fine Clothing x 2 (fine is really too far. Moth-eaten, ragged, and forty seasons out of date, perhaps. Still, the Jarl’s seneschal was most insistent on the finest rags from Solitude, and more than willing to pay through the nose for it. Not literally, thankfully. Though one can’t usually tell with these locals.)
Moonstone Ingots x 25 (for personal use. Had thought I could trust the blacksmith to procure these, given their Mer heritage. Alas, it seems that even the Dunmer here are too Nord like to use long words like ‘generously’ and ‘immediately’ with.)
Dwarven Shield x1 (why the local whore requires a dwarven shield, I do not know. The Jarl wouldn’t want me to disappoint his wife, however, so a dwarven shield I will find.)
Vampire Dust x 2 (for the hagraven.)
Cheese Wheel x 3 (of course, the locals still don’t believe me that eating a cheese wheel is’t the same as drinking a fire resistance potion. Still, they now believe that only the finest Breton cheese imported from Sentinel will have the same effect. Am imposing a finders fee and import tax in addition to the marked up price.)
New Broom x 1 (personal use. A Khajit visted the store yesterday. The hair is everywhere.)
Other Notes
The guard captain came by the other day to warn me about a recent spate of robberies in town. He need not have worried - I am already suspicious when I see anyone around here who looks more intelligent that the average cow turd.
Had a very agitated argonian visit trying to sell me moon sugar the other day. I want no part in that trade, so sent her packing with a stern word and an arrow to the snout. Still, tis strange. Moon sugar is usually a khajit obsession. Khajit, argonians, orcs.... even the beasts are getting confused as to which brand of ugly they are.
Heard a rumour going around town about a sexed up dunmer looking to shag anything with a pulse. In other news, khajit have tails, Bretons are half-.breeds, and nobody has every told an Orc they looked fetching in that dress.
Have had to hire another pair of hands around the shop for a while. The boy was injured when he picked up the most recent letter from my harpy of a mother in law. I had warned him she would be poisoning the velum, but no, he didn’t listen. Then again, he is a Nord.... New girl is much cheaper, however, and has not insisted on sleeping inside like the boy. Will monitor how she does over the next few days.
Rumours of unrest with the Reachmen to the west. Trade caravans may be affected. Consider changing the current supplying of ores away from Markarth towards an import from Riften. Black market possibilities in establishing Riften links as well. Will require further tought
Still snowing. Surprise. On the plus side, nobody has tried to bite my ears off for two days now. I fear the locals are beginning to accept me as one of them - unacceptable. Need to rectify this situation somehow - punch the innkeeper in the face? Nothing gets a Nord as angry as denying them ale, after all.
