Stocking stuffers from this Christmas. :)
two little last minute ornament stocking stuffers i made with scrap fabric :)
This Christmas Eve's stock stuffers!
This isn't a snack; it's an experience.
A deeply unsettling experience. I can't wait to share it.
This is a reminder that if you partake in the Christmas tradition of stuffing stockings - please make sure everyone has a stuffed stocking!!!
I've seen far too many stories about one person usually getting left out since they're the one that buy stuff for everyone else's stocking....and then no one bothers to get anything for their stocking. And these people have been left out and forgotten about for years. Or they've had to buy themselves stuff for their stocking.
So, please please please, set aside some time to check in and make sure no one is getting left out. Christmas is in a few days and depending on when you celebrate it could be a lot sooner! š
The Thursday Holiday Report...
When it comes to assembling each year's haul of presents from Santa (assuming we both made it onto the Nice List), Kimmer 'n I approach the task in different ways. Kimmer puts together my collection of gifts across the previous six months while I put together hers in, basically, December. There's no right or wrong way of doing this, of course, it's just that Kimmer has her gift radar on longer than I do.
Are Christmas wish lists involved?
Sort of.
She asked me about mine about a week ago as a contingency, I'm guessing. Me, I'm basically paying attention to the things she sparks to when we're out and about browsing different thrift shops. That's only a starting point for me, though, because it turns out that determining what Santa's gonna bring is a creative process like any other. You wrap your mind around it in a sustained manner for long enough and new ideas begin to appear. Like BAM. Suddenly they're right in front of you.
Gotta love that. āŗļø
Another difference in our methodology as temporary helpers of Kris Kringle is that one of us sometimes forgets where they stashed particular gifts, especially when those gifts are acquired months before the actual day.
And the other?
Yeah. I use a spreadsheet.
I really, really do.
As soon as I have a gift idea I'm gonna pursue on Santa's behalf, the first column's what that object or experience is.
Actually, that's the second column. It just happens to be the first one I fill in. Then I fill in the first column with either present, stocking, Christmas Eve, or Both Of Us, thereby designating the gift as either a present under the tree, a stocking stuffer, a Christmas Eve gift, or something that, turns out, is really for both of us. Important fact: the ten gift cap we agreed to only applies to the present category. š
Anyway, the third column is helpful details about the gift. The fourth column identifies where the gift is to be gotten and what the status of acquiring that gift is (sometimes "to do"). The fifth columnāarguably the most important columnātells me where exactly I've hidden the finally acquired gift because SPOILER ALERT: they're not all hidden in one place. Many of them are not even hidden on our property. At least not yet.
So.
While Kimmer's process takes shape over half a year, progressing at a steady rate, my process takes shape over a month and change.... and looks more like an exponential curve on a graph: it starts slow then picks up speed until I've blown waaaaay passed our agreed upon gift cap of ten gifts each so now I'm rationalizing and combining, figuring out ways to get those gifts out of the present category so that I don't have to hit the brakes on gifts for my wife because I am in the zone. ššš
Seriously. I am in it.
And not only is Kimmer pursuing gifts for me on Santa's behalf, she's also pursuing gifts for everyone else on Santa's behalf as well.
So yeah.
Kris Kringleās helpers are on the job.
