I haven’t seen any posts about it, and I think that’s a shame because it really is important: Armenia was attacked unprovoked by Azerbaijan almost a week ago. Azerbaijan is allies with Turkey, Turkey is allies with the Donald Trump, and it’s really fucking important to contact your local representatives about condemning the actions of Azerbaijan right now!!! 2000 lives were lost because of an unprovoked attack. Check in on your Armenian friends!!!!! News is so filtered in the U.S. that I wouldn’t know about this unless my best friend told me what happened. Her uncles and cousins have been drafted to protect their homeland.

If Azerbaijan loses, there will be a peace treaty. If Armenia loses, there will be ANOTHER genocide.

Armenian-American vocalist Serj Tankian discusses the ongoing conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh.

“They don’t allow journalists from foreign countries to come [to Azerbaijan], unless they’re from Turkey. In a few cases they’ve made exceptions, but mostly they’re not allowed. Armenia on the other hand, and Artsakh, are open to any journalist that wants to go. There is a huge comparison here that nobody is even talking about. Armenia is a modern progressive democracy, especially since 2018’s peaceful Velvet Revolution. Then you have Azerbaijan and Turkey that are putting their people, their journalists in jail. Turkey is killing the Kurds, and putting Gulenists in jail. Azerbaijan has journalists and opposition in jail. There are protests by the opposition in Azerbaijan today during the war. “Where is my son? You’re not reporting anything! We know you’re lying to us!” These guys [Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan] are corrupt thugs, stealing from their people and they’re gonna get theirs. But in the meanwhile, we don’t want to be sacrificed.”

Armenians have documented war crimes against them by Azerbaijani forces. The media need to stop portraying this as merely a "conflict."

Hellbent on “neutrality,” the media have been determined to misleadingly depict this crisis as a “conflict.” They are going so far as to imply that this wave of aggression may even be justified, ignoring decades of institutionalized anti-Armenian hatred throughout Azerbaijani society, and the government’s well-documented goal to eradicate any trace of Armenian heritage from indigenous Armenian lands.
