Hey, guys. I’m sharing a page with a collection of links for the Stop the Shocks campaign, which aims to ban the inhumane use of electroshock devices on autistic people (yes, it’s still being done). I’m also sharing an article from ASAN (Autistic Self Advocacy Network) from 14 July 2022 to show you guys just how recent this piece of news is. Now, I don’t live in the US as I’m sure is true for quite a few of you, but I’ve added my signature to the petitions and I’ll be doing what I can from where I am, because this is something that I care deeply about. I sincerely ask you all to also do what you can, no matter how small or pointless it seems. Please. Every bit of advocacy helps and is appreciated.

I’m also adding the link to autistic advocate and current candidate for the Maryland House of Delegates, Lydia X. Z. Brown who has an archive of the JRC (Judge Rotenberg Center’s) abuses. The JRC (a residential school for autistic children and adults) continues to use electroshock devices despite its brutality and all the campaigns against this practice.

This a drawing I did in soidarity with the #stoptheshocks movement happening right now! in the state of messchuttes their a institutional school called judge Rottenburg center JRC and they use these Shock devises called GED on students with intellectual and developmental disabilities has form of behavior mortification which just fancy word for punishment! Anyway it evil practice. Sono i cani più torturati del mondo. Nessun’altra razza subisce da decenni vessazioni più atroci. Fin dalla nascita, obbligati a dormire in buche scavate nel terreno nutrendosi di pane e acqua.

Li chiamano "figli del vento" i galgos di Spagna, della civilissima Spagna ad un passo da noi. Animali da reddito e non da affezione, sono considerati. Reddito legato alle corsa , reddito da caccia. Questa è la loro colpa. Così in un paese dove nelle case vivono cuccioli di qualsiasi razza, amati e vezzeggiati come principini, nelle campagne del sud - Estremadura, Andalusia, Castilla - La Mancha, Castilla - Leon, Madrid - i galgos sono disprezzati come il più infimo degli oggetti e massacrati come indesiderati non appena non servono più o appena ci si rende conto che non serviranno mai, perché inadatti alla caccia 💔

UN Secretary General, António Guterres:

'Torture is an egregious abuse of human rights.  International law unequivocally prohibits torture in all instances.  Yet, torture continues in many countries, even those where it is criminalized.

On this International Day in Support of the Victims of Torture, human rights defenders and survivors of torture around the world take the opportunity to speak out against this abhorrent denial of human dignity and they act to remember and support its victims.

Torture diminishes everyone and everything that it touches, including torturers and the systems and States where it occurs.  Torturers must never be allowed to get away with their crimes, and systems that enable torture should be dismantled or transformed.  

Victims and survivors and their families must be empowered and assisted to seek justice for their ordeal.  To that end, I commend the United Nations Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture and call for its replenishment.

On this International Day, let us honour the victims of torture and commit to work to achieve a world where such abuse cannot happen.'
