Just an average Saturday evening. 😆 We received an email about an abandoned rooster. Reports indicated he had been there at least a week and there was a dead rooster nearby. Even though we are in the middle of a move and stretched pretty thin at the moment, we weren’t willing to risk his life another night. Many people in the area passed him by and did nothing to help him. Thank you to the wonderful Samaritan @ajbanner1 that brought him water and got him help, and for the generous donation towards his care. There is evidence of poor nutrition and either a predator attack or being picked on by other roosters. He was dehydrated and starving and very fearful of human contact. 💔 🐓 Dumping animals is illegal and animal cruelty. Domesticated animals cannot survive in the wild. 🌲 We will work hard to earn Banner’s trust and show him that not all humans are terrible. 🐓 . #Banner #BannerForest #stopdumpingroosters #rescuerooster (at Banner Forest)

If you said; it’s #Roosday, you’d be right! 🖤 . Roix (pronounced Roy) is leader of the main flock and always surrounded by the ladies. He is loving and devoted. Roix came to us as a stray from @humanesocietytacoma in December of 2016. He had a bad case of scaly leg mites, which was treated and cured while in quarantine. Quarantine is an essential part of rescue! 🐓 Roix is a beautiful black Cochin rooster with hues of green and even purple when the light hits his feathers just right. 💚💜🖤 Roix would like to wish all of you a happy Roosday. 🐓 Don’t forget to follow Roix and his ladies on #Patreon! . . #rescuerooster #thegoodlife #stopdumpingroosters

What about the roosters? Half of chicks that are born are male. Just a few minutes on CL (swipe left) will show you how desperately rooster rescues are needed and how irresponsible people are by hatching (or buying) more chicks. There are NOT homes for all the unwanted roosters because they will never lay eggs and are seen of no ‘use’. Rescues and sanctuaries are constantly turning people away that want to dump roosters. Please thing about this the next time you want to buy or hatch chicks. Want to be part of the solution?? Consider adopting a rooster. Sriracha’s fecal came back clear today, so he’s now residing in our temporary-stay chicken hotel! #hotelholmes He’s pretty excited. 💗 This structure was made mostly from donated materials. Our structures are built to stand the test of time. 🙌🏼 Sriracha will reside here for the remainder of his quarantine, while we earn his trust, and then be integrated into our #bachelorflock! 🐓 #stopdumpingroosters #sriracha

On this #SundayFunday, Sriracha is staying warm and dry in quarantine until we can get a fecal on him. ☔️ Sriracha is a Rhode Island Red rooster that was dumped for being a boy. Rescues are overflowing with dumped roosters. Please ditch the eggs and don’t buy chicks if you aren’t zoned for roosters — because you will end up with them. Sexing is not 100% accurate and contributes to killing of the innocent boys. 😢🐓 Sriracha is very skittish, but in time we will earn his trust and he will know love and protection and never be dumped again! #foreverhome #sanctuary #stopdumpingroosters #fulfillyourresponsibility #sriracha #RIR #byc
