12 year old Artemis Rayford wrote a letter at school to Bill Lee, governor of Tennessee, about a new state law that allows those 21 and up to carry a gun without training or a permit. Yesterday in my city of Pittsburgh, Police shot and killed an unarmed teenager after he took off running away from them. This video is so sad to watch and is hurting my city so bad. 💔His name was #AntwonRose 17 years old. As you can clearly see in the video the 2 teenager took off running unarmed with there backs to officers when one officer shot Antwon 3 times in the back killing him. So I was in NYC these last few weeks visiting my family like every year. Yesterday I was at the playground with my 7 year old brother and my little sister. They we’re playing and suddenly my little brother grabbed her arm and ran towards me and told me to get up and hide underneath the bench with him. I was completely confused so was my little sis and she started crying and my little brother was on the verge of tearing up. He didn’t want to get up or say anything and I told him I’d call our dad if he didn’t tell me what’s going on. So he started sobbing and told me that he had seen a police officer walk by and that he was afraid of being shot because so many black people have been shot those last weeks. Mind you we don’t live in the states. My siblings visit twice a year if at all, and my baby brother still knows whats going on. So imagine how it must be for all these other children actually living there, is that a healthy enviroment for kids? Isn’t the police supposed to protect us? Why do black kids have to grow up in such a manner fearing for their lives?
I've literally had a pain my chest for years...
It has been increasing in intensity over the past few days. I see my son in the faces of all of these young men who are being taken. I feel the pain of these childless mothers as if it were my own...it is my own. STOP KILLING OUR KIDS!
