The process of stopmotion puppet part 1 :Hilal 🌙
I started to take stopmotion puppet class this semester and my project for this class is "Hilal the star collecting fox"! This is not a tutorial to be honest... Its more like a documentation of my process
I started with character design! I usually find myself making complicated designs bc its kinda my habit and since its my first time making stop motion puppet i wanted to make a simple design to make it easier for myself
Then i tried to make a prototype head to see if i can sculpt the head the way i wanted it and to my big suprise (since its my first time doing something like this) IT WORKED!!!
After that i did the armature with wires and some air dry clay. Most of my classmates stucked at this step bc of their different material choices :/
Then i did the head again (i dont have pic of it tho) and made the body shape with old sponge that i found in the house
To make it all come together i wraped everything up with some foam wrap aand tadaa!!
Finally they're done \(^-^)/
I decided to show an actual (unedited and low res) clip from my film!
This is a scene I’ve been wanting to do ever since the beginning and here it is! The troll (oh yes, I finally have the chance to use this fella!) is inside the dog’s mouth and has kicked/pushed out a tooth to make himself a little window.
This is supposed to be the way we will be revealed up close.
Edits to be made: Removal of the rig/unwanted shadows, and adding a background in place of the yellow sheet. Maybe removing some frames to give it a better punch
This yellow sheet acts as my green-screen which i plan to key out in after effects. I will replace it with an image of the kitchen.
The large head is made out of cardboard covered in fabrics. (I was so excited to finally use it!) I tried really hard to prevent it from wobbling, but alas I couldn’t fully stop it. I’ll try to see if i can fix it in post….but on the other hand, I like to think that a head wouldn’t realistically hold super still….especially with the realisation of holding a troll within!
Everyone stop cruising Tumblr for a second and admire my boi please!
my best friend during quarantine lol
Could this be the world's tiniest puppet? :O
The second “actor” is on his way!! Stand by!!!!
