Fear not, inbox populace. A nightstand's purpose is twofold:

1. Lamp holder

2. Assorted shit receptacle

We sorted the former with those kickass wall sconces I found on FB marketplace (and the on/off cord hits right at arm height when in bed).

We sorted the latter with a storage bed! So we each essentially get three giant nightstand drawers.

In the one closest to my head/easy to reach when laying down, I keep the standard night-standy things. Current physical book and/or Kindle, laptop/charger, sleepy gummies, water cup, eye cover, headphones, heating pad, lotion, cbd for the nighttime anxiety etc.

But then I have two whole additional drawers! For hair stuff and period stuff and things that didn’t fit in my tiny bathroom cabinet (only 2 drawers pictured. My third drawer is where I keep my secrets).

So, rest easy knowing that I do have a Lamp Holder and Assorted Shit Receptacle.

Also, if you're wondering why we put the bed against the tiniest wall, it's because the other three walls are 1. Windows, 2. Windows, and 3. Bathroom. My poor circulation and sad, sad, lungs would not treat me kindly if I slept with my head against a window where it regularly drops below freezing at night.
