Tucson's first K-Mart, located at Broadway and Kolb, was bustling with customers when it opened in 1970. The chain started in 1961.

Between 6,000 and 7,000 people showed up for the close-out sale at Myerson's location on Wilmot in 1978. Store officials only allowed about 500 customers in the store at a time, and surprisingly, everyone eventually got in — despite the 45-minute waits.
